I picked up my first A&E soap from Top of the Chain recently, Portrait in Soho. I just couldn't sit on the sidelines any longer. It smells pretty good in the tub and I'm looking forward to lathering it up soon.

Well, what's the verdict? Huh

A&E is Effin awesome!!! Base is superb, scents are always enjoyable... so far for me. Apparently Spartacus is of the new base. I may be wrong on that so don’t count me on it. These soaps are on the softer side of a croap. Not as hard as B&M or WK but more along the lines of Declaration Grooming but not quite there. You can still bloom the puck... I do anyway. Lather build takes a little bit of work but if you face lather it’s much easier. Lather is also very sheen and slick loooots of post shave slickness. I am strictly a straight razor shaver myself so I do look for that in all my soaps. Post shave is excellent leaves your skin on the creamier side. I think there is alcohol in the after shaves but I usually don’t feel it... or any burn for that matter. Peter Charkalis has definitely Done his homework before launching these. Really love his stuff. I currently have
Spartacus
Summer Fig
And Grecian Horse
Grecian Horse and Spartacus get 5 stars from me summer fig I like but I find the scent strength to be too mild

Spartacus isn't in the new base. The only ones he's released in the new base are a couple of limited edition soaps, Amber Rose, some test soaps sent to YouTubers and the upcoming Signature soap. He'll be porting everything over to the new base eventually though! Can't wait to get The Novelist with that extra slickness.

I haven't used it yet. I've started growing my winter beard so I'm not shaving much - my neck every few days. I'll get to it later this week and let you know my thoughts.

Now I've used the A&E Portrait in Soho soap - its a pretty good quality soap, nice and slick. The scent in lather form is a little more subdued than off the puck but its a nice subtle scent. I think its a keeper. As I mentioned above, I'm growing out a winter beard so I haven't had a full face shave with this soap yet just the neck but I think its enough to tell.

The performance is top-tier as most have shared but I don't like the combination of perfume-type scents over what smells to me like a gamey base. Scent is personal so take it with a grain of salt.

Hey guys, just here to confirm that in fact spartacus and anything released pretty much in the last 3 months in on the new base. I'm very close with Peter and own several of his soaps (only on his new base, as I need tallow, butters and lanolin to contrast my skin dryness. This soap is out of this world good, same class as B&M.

I ordered Socal Hipster the other day as this reviewer rates it, L'Orange Verte & Grecian Horse the best smelling ones at 13:41 into the vid:
