If anyone is looking for a FANTASTIC synthetic knot, please do not hesitate to get one of these. In my humble opinion, this knot is a combo of the three G5 knots that apshaveco offers. Soft tips, perfect backbone, very nice flow through, whips up a great lather in the bowl and very good for face lathering. I gravitate to larger knots so I purchased a 28mm knot for my timeless adjustable brush.

Have you used it any more? I'm curious of your thoughts on scritch. The G5C has soft tips (gel-like) but when splayed, the sides of the bristles are a bit scritchy. Are we dealing with the same issue here, or is this one soft all around?

Also did you notice the splay getting easier after use? I believe Andrew touts this one as loosening up after ??? Uses (something like 8 or 10).

mrdoug, have you tried the other G5 knots?  I was on the site this morning and would like to try one of these but I'm not a fan of scritch.  Right now my preference is the Cashmere, a very soft, easy splay and no scritch.  I'm curious if these G5's are as soft as the Cashmere or a SynBad knot

I think the A and B don't splay easily. It seems to be the trend... Soft tips, scratchy sides, and difficult splay. Then they compare it to a silvertip badger. But isn't the Silvertip the least backbone and scratch of the badgers? False advertising, I say! Lol.

I haven’t used it much due to having so many brush knots to try out for the first time. But my experience was very pleasant. Soft tips but stiff from mid bristle to knot. Tobin Fetters has a few videos on the brush. His opinions are very trustworthy. Here’s a link to some videos he has

I do think it’s the best knot out of the 5G line up.

Again, I haven't used the A or B myself... This is based on what I've read. The G5C does have a very minor scritch from the side of the bristles, but the tips of mine are cashmere soft. Still, my bet is the cashmere and the Synbad are still going to be the softest you'll find.

That said, I recently saw AKA brushwork sells an all black knot ("Black Silk") that is supposed to be cashmere like. I haven't tried it, to prove or disprove the statement. If it is so, that provides another dynamic for someone who likes that feel, but wants to match a brush handle better.

I also am a fan of the DS Cosmetic T4 knot and the TNS Quartermoon, both of which are quite soft. I just received a TNS tuxedo knot. But I haven't tried it yet, so I can't opine on it. All of these are good, but again, not cashmere soft.

A friend once said something like lathering with a Cashmere knot is like having butterfly wings applying the lather. Or maybe it was angel wings. Same ides and Fluffy was always a great one for a witty phrase!
