Hey Folks - Me again. You may have seen my post in the brush forum, as I'm figuring out the ins and outs of this forum I've decided to create a merchant post. Please let me know if theres anything I'm doing wrong

AVAILABLE PRODUCTS:

The knots are now available and will ship out within 1-2 business days.

Etsy store can be found here: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/45218831...ic-shaving

UPCOMING PROJECTS:

I'd like to use this community to also get some feedback on up coming projects.

Chrome Plated Handles - POSTPONED

These require a bit of a steep investment, but I'm hoping I reach a point where I can offer these to you all. Let me know if you like the left design or the right design better.

The G.O.A.T. - Synthetic Goat Hair Knot

I don't have any current pictures of the knot itself yet, but this is the hair that will be used.

UPDATE: I hope to have something similar to the G.O.A.T. Available shortly. It'll most likely be called natural white, as it more of an off white color, similar to boar.

I'm interested in everyones thoughts on everything, please don't hesitate to comment!

EDIT: A few spelling corrections, and updates.

Can you compare your Tuxedo knot to other common synths like the true Plisson, the Mühle Black Fibre, Mühle/EJ STF, etc?

I don't quite understand the synthetic goat hair. Is it goat simply because of the color? What type of qualities does it have and how does it differ from what we already are familiar with?

Finally, will these only be knots or will you have fully assembled brushes?

Welcome to DFS.

I'd love to hear more about these as well. But they all look nice.

Welcome to DFS.

I'm been passing around the Tuxedo to various brushmakers on reddit. Heres what one had to say;

"It's /u/andrewpalombo's knot, I was able to test one and they are indeed very nice. Something of a cross between the Game Changer and the Ubersoft II. Best of both worlds, looks really cool, good backbone, and very soft tips. I liked it quite a bit."

The synthetic goat hair knot is being made right now, so I'll have to report back on performance, but its called synthetic goat hair because it's supposed to look like actual goat hair.

I hope to sell full brushes soon, but for now, its only the knots.

Thanks for the all the questions, let me know if you have any more! Smile

Andrew, good to see you have a merchant thread up and running now.

Nice of you to offer the continued discount for DFS members. I just realized that the look of the Tuxedo knot reminds me of my Kent Infinity Silvertex, which I like quite a bit, although the Kent has a small knot (22 mm) to my taste.

The aluminum handles — to be honest, I myself am not a huge fan of chrome-plated goods, but design-wise I would give a slight nod to the one on the right.

The synthetic goat hair knot is definitely intriguing. Once you have one in use, it would be interesting to hear how it compares to the other typical synthetic fibers on the market right now.

I just took a look at the Kent, it does have some resemblance but the Tuexdo is 2 band with a darker base and the Slivertex appears to be 3 band and much lighter in colour. That is pretty interesting though.

I'm thinking of potentially going with a rose gold plating on the handles, but I need to see what I can do there, so for now the chrome is what is most plausible to happen in the future.

Yeah, I should be able to get a feel for synth goat hair in around a week. I'll report back with the performance of it.

EDIT: Spelling

EDIT: Spelling

Looked at some photos of the Kent Infinity Silvertex online, and mine somehow looks a little darker in person. But yes, three-band it is. The Tuxedo does seem to have a unique look.

The rose gold plating would be an interesting option. My wife has gotten ever so slightly interested in this hobby of mine, and some days ago went browsing for rose gold DE razors. It is a color that seems to have been something of a “hit” in recent years. (Even though in jewelry, the rose gold plating wears off quite quickly, usually revealing a coat of silver underneath.)

Do let us know how the synthetic goat hair works in practice.

Brief update on the goat hair synthetics:

Initial production did not go as planned. I'll keep the thread updated as we move along, there's still plans for testing a white synthetic knot (that looks natural). It may not be the imitation goat hair as listed, but we'll see how things work out in the next week or two.
