Okay, Brian, now I'm really interested to know your thoughts on the Guard since it is one that I have had for more than a year.  Also, a comparison of the Feather you just received and the Guard would be great. Happy2

Just shaved with the Guard Freddy. While I didn't feel at risk for irritation like the Feather MR3 Neo, it did give me more weepers. My lower neck & jawline were the victims on this blade. It reminded me of a DE shave with how the blade reacted to my stubble. The MR3 blades seemed to chatter/flex less so it didn't cut me.

So it seems that neither are ideal for me but for a short trip (& after only a single shave on each system) I'd have to say that the Feather is better for me. If I travelled more then I would probably invest in the 2-bladed carts from Feather. However, for a single 3-day cruise I think I can make the Feather system work well.

I had a hunch you might say something like that about the Guard.  It works well for me for the odd shave or while traveling but I don't have the skin/beard issues that folk like andrewjs18 and you do.  I believe Andrew didn't think the Guard was too bad but I don't positively remember.

Would a Schick Injector work better for you and, if you are flying somewhere to catch your cruise, would the injector system pass muster with the TSA?  Just a thought.

Injectors have worked pretty well for me but not my favorite. We aren't flying. Our bags will be in the hands of others which doesn't sit well with me for any of my razors. I think the Feather system will work best for me on this trip. My wife is going to give the Guard a go though. Hopefully she will like it.

I can't say that I had any absolutely terrible shaves from the guard, but I never had any fantastic shaves, either. that said though, I haven't had a shave in a very long time where I didn't get some sort of irritation. the difference now though is that I'm trying to actually correct the mistakes to prevent them in the future.

I do like a lot of things about the guard though: it's very light, it's open comb and it only has 1 blade. the problem I used to have with a lot of cartridge razors was how difficult they were to remove all of the hair and shaving cream from the blades.
