Wow, I never expected to have to put in this much effort to get a razor going...
The Schick G showed up without a blade the other day. So, I inserted the key (done this 4 times before, I think) and pushed a blade in. It didn't go in straight, and was stuck sticking partway out. That was alright... This is a junker just to get the slot set. So I manually adjusted it (with the key... Don't want to loose a finger). Got it in place, then reinserted the key to replace the blade with a clean one. Again it wouldn't go in right, sticking . Again I manually adjusted it and then tried a third blade. Nope. I manually adjusted #3 and decided I'd give it a try. Really show to start.
That was a mistake. Though it was so so feeling, I got a bunch of tiny nicks. I did my three passes and began to clean-up the sink. I then tried once more to place a blade in the injector. This time I looked really closely at it and decided to twist the cartridge and key just a bit forward towards me. That did the trick and the blade slid in right. I did a clean up pass with water only, just to check it. Much smoother. Still, 4 of 7 blades AND a painful shave... That's expensive for a trial run. Lol. I can say, though, I got a close shave with the type G. That's a Win for sure.
Since I used the Tabac, I had to bring the toughest brush in my Den to play. Thanks again Fluffy , this is a great tool!
Happy Tabac-Tuesday folks!

I hope you ended well enough to consider trying the G again! Your perseverance is commendable.

Just curious if Henson ever made right the issue you have with their titanium razor and by made right I mean replace the handle? I know you’ve decided to move on from the Henson and sell it but it would be best for your wallet if you sold a pristine razor I reckon.

I did sell it, but not because I didn't like Henson. I still have and will use my Aluminum, it's a great razor. I just prefer the Overlander now, so why keep an expensive titanium of I am happy with the Alum for a occasional use.

I hope you try the G again too. I own only one Type G, and it arrived bladeless and very tight in the keyhole. When I finally got the key in, the blade would only go partway, but a slight bend of the cartridge opened things up enough for the blade to slide in perfectly. Mild tweaking of the cartridge angle has come in handy for me before, and this Type G turned out to be a great shaver.
