Anything that can go wrong will happen while I'm shaving...

I don't have a great history with keeping to a journal. Still, I have thoughts I don't know where to post. So, I am finally breaking down and starting a journal.

My intro here is going to be short, as time is short tonight. I had my first shave with the Lupo 72. At first it was a bit rough, not horrible, but moreso than I prefer. Halfway through I swapped the Stainless handle out for my Henson Titanium handle. That made a big difference. This tells me it's absolutely something in how I handle a heavier razor, still, that medium weight is just better for me. Now, I'm no expert, so I am asking:

Will there be an issue with titanium and Stainless steel being connected like this (especially with all of the water)? I've heard of other metals having issues, I want to say cooper and brass, maybe?

Nonetheless, in the end it was a good close shave, and I was happy with the end results. Friday I'll start off with the Titanium handle and see how it goes.

I have no packages enroute, yet I was surprised to see a box in the mailbox from our buddy up North (well, North of NY), MaineYooper . Eric was ever so nice to surprise me with this generous gift, a Schick Injector.

I'm shocked, as I had recently commented how cool it looked. I'll be ordering some injector blades tonight so I can take it for a spin (hopefully) this weekend. Thank you ever so much Eric, this is such a nice and thoughtful gift!

More to come soon-ish. I'll try hard to not let this journal go to the grave like previous ones.

I believe in your Journal ability Paul. Doesn't have to always be daily. Make it what works for you. As far as titanium and Stainless reacting, I see no issue as makers mix those two all the time. A goggle search would tell you what metals react bad together but I'm pretty sure it's more like aluminum etc. Great start and good on Eric for his kindness too.

So back to the Lupo, as I'm one to obsess over a solution until I find the perfect one...

I'm going to eventually need to grab a second handle... I'm not going to swap the same one back and forth. I'm looking for that general weight (which Henson doesn't really divulge on their site). I'm thinking, as Titanium handles are going to be $60+ easily (more than the original razor), perhaps I should take a cheaper route.

An EJ handle is going to be a 'lighter than steel choice'? So that may be an option. Also a hollow SS handle might fall in that weight? Those are going to be harder to find, I bet. The bay and Etsy has wood handles, but (1) I don't trust the quality , (2) wood would need upkeep to stay in good condition, and (3) they all seem to be either no length listed for 4+" long (I prefer a 3.5" handle). Zamak type handles at least keep the same color/hue aesthetic. So I've been looking that direction.

I have time as I definitely want to shave with it a few more times to be certain it's a keeper. Still, it doesn't hurt to get the ball rolling... so, anyone have any suggestions (beyond 'stop being neurotic', lol)?

Check out the TiBam Titanium Handles on eBay. I can vouch for the exceptional quality! I use one on my Lupo (and Henson too).

TiBam handles are made by a very talented machinist in Russia, so they do take some time to arrive here in the US.

Great minds think alike…

I don’t know if you leave your razors assembled between shaves but it’s my practice to disassemble, rinse and dry my razors after every shave. This means that any potential effect of different metals reacting would only have the relatively brief time together when I’m actually shaving. Maybe it would help if you grounded the razor while shaving with cathotic protection? Just attach a copper wire to the handle and ground it outside
