Changing handles may affect the balance and feel for better or worse, but it can be done. For example, ATT, Timeless, and Weber handles can be interchanged, and they will work with the iKon X3 head. I occasionally like to use the Bulldog with an ATT cap and plate. Keep in mind that while swapping handles can be done, that does not mean that it will always work.
Now when it comes to caps and plates, I myself don't swap between manufacturers. I might use different plates with the same cap if all of them are made by the same manufacturer. For example, I use mostly the Timeless .068" plate and occasionally the .095" plate, both with the same (Timeless) cap.

No need to overthink what might or might not work, trial and error. Takes five seconds to determine whether a handle is properly balanced, about as long to see whether a baseplate and cap combination has potential.

I don’t think the iKon (ShaveCraft) aluminum heads are just aluminum; this speculation has surfaced before, not sure it’s ever been confirmed. But there must be something else in the mix, because the 104 Tech head feels heavier than the larger Calypso SE1 head that I have. In any case, that combination of the 104 head and the Calypso handle is just a brilliant one, I think.(01-23-2018, 05:04 AM)Matsilainen Wrote:I just realized that I never responded to this.(01-22-2018, 11:19 PM)andrewjs18 Wrote: I currently use my ATT Calypso handle with an ikon tech head.I’ve been wondering about this combination. Always a pleasure to use.

Being an aluminum composite the Tech head is a hefty 24g, the Calypso only 12g. I use the Tech 104 with a PAA aluminum bomber handle, which while slightly head heavy is the best I've found (don't have the Calypso). The titanium Halo handle is ok but I prefer the control a shorter handle allows me.

I’m with you on the shorter handles. Waited too long with the PAA aluminum, and they sold out. The Calypso is slightly longer than I’d perhaps prefer, but a great handle, nevertheless. There’s a pretty good balance when hooked up to the 104, too.
