Annual Foliage Thread - lots o' oics

ML and I like driving around to see the views. ML takes lots of pictures. Here are some of our trips.

This is the moon rising over Mt Waumbek taken in our backyard.


From the front yard looking at the woods. The dog is a statue.



We took a trip to Maine. This tribute to Paul Bunyon and Babe is in Rumford Maine.


We continued on in Maine heading for New Portland. We were heading for 'The Wire Bridge' a swinging bridge.



It was quite picturesque.







But the most amazing part???? It is a vehicular bridge. This is me in our trusty Subaru!!! You could definitely feel it sway.




We walked up Mt Prospect. These are 2 good shots from that walk.





We did an "easy walk" to Lookout Ledge. Easy my rear end. This is ML using two hiking staffs and leaning way forward to go up the trail. We barely would have made it up without the hiking staffs. And coming back down with sticks would have been impossible.



That being said - it was worth the effort.

And me. We were waaayyyy high up. I did not get too close to the edge.



This last pic is me marking the sugar maples so I can find them in the early spring. I cut a template from a pizza box.



We had a short but lovely fall. We took lots of road trips and enjoyed a week of doing so.

Lovely leaves there. I like the mix of bright deciduous and dark evergreens.

We have neighbours up the road with a life-size Dalmatian statue in that same pose under a Birch tree in their yard. It looks hilarious when it's up to its neck in snow.

Not a hike, but if you ever feel like taking a drive there's a road that goes to "height of land" and then down the mountain and into Rangely Maine. The view from Height of Land is spectacular. Rangely has some good places for food and drink, and on the way in there are side trips.

There are other things to fill a day in the area. I found the Wilhelm Reich museum interesting. And something about moving water always attracts me. Smalls Falls is nice, as is Coos Canyon. But I don't get to Coos Canyon via the normal route. We go over the mountain (whose name escapes me) to it's east to get to it and come out "in back" of it.

He lived in a really nice location too. Fantastic view!
