I have to say 2010-2018 was a fun time for me to be part of the wet shaving world. I got to try literally every type of razor/brush/soap under the sun and I don't regret any of the money I spent on ANY of it. Even the things that were disappointing. I also found things that other people found disappointing that I love. For the last several years I've just been enjoying what I have. It's hard to stay involved in current discussions when you stop buying things. I do check in here from time to time.

I am still on the fence about purchasing martin de candre, but that's literally the only thing I can think of right now that I would even want.

I’d say go ahead and get a tub of MdC to get it out of your system. I got some a few years ago and I rarely use it. It’s just not up to the current standard and the price…

The only “vintage” soap that continues to impress me every time I use it is Tabac. I haven’t tried their latest formulation but I do wonder what alchemy they called upon in making the former soap that continues to compare so well to modern soaps.

Tabac:  Love the soap, hate the scent. I'm more impressed with the longevity of MdC than the performance. I'm sure there is a new soap coming out next week made with mermaid tallow and unicorn tears if I want to join the FOMO gang. I think will at B&M said it best years ago: "There is only so much you can do with soap. The improvements from here on out are going to be minimal," but wet shavers will will jump on ANYTHING. Tweak one ingredient? NEW FORMULA! It all just became a rat race to buy the newest soap. I'm pretty lucky. I didn't go too overboard, but I look at some of these dens and think, "WTF are you going to do with all of that?

Obviously this is on me because nobody is holding a gun to my head but I do feel the pressure. All I can say is thank goodness more artisans aren’t making more awesome bay rum because then things would just be freaking insane.

Marko  to me it’s simple.  Let all the stress go, buy what makes sense and it’s up to the artisans to make something valuable enough to you to spend your money.  This is not a charity.  I love a few artisans, but I don’t buy scents that I won’t use.  It’s simple we can’t spend just to spend.  Stay well!

What??! One of my favourite brushes.  Fortunately I have more of them than any normal person needs so I'm good, as are my offspring for a generation or two

It’s true, Shavemac will have a more or less monopoly on the German market in that range. Prices from Shavemac are also going up in August…
