I can definitely see why. My first shave with a guarded blade (Kai Protouch MG) left my face and neck so smooth that I didn't feel appreciable stubble until 24 hours later. And that was shaving two and a half day's worth of growth.

Found the Kais whether Mild or MG very harsh. By far harshest of any tried so far save SuperPro. Of course all users unique. May revisit it at some point just to be absolutely certain it not 'right' for me.

Are you referencing the teal coloured package when stating ProLight?

Just as info

Did NOT want to use the bandwidth unless necessary.

The ProLights need be modified to fit a Vector. The lateral tabs need be extended on BOTH lateral extremes by about 3mm.

Have found best way to do this is to use Al pipe fitting adaptors in a bench mounted vise. Carefully insert the blade edge down such that the tabs are fully exposed. .

Prefer Snap-on Tools12 Piece Swiss Pattern Miniature File Set w/ Handle Set Model # HBFN120B, particularly the Joint Swiss Pattern Needle File Item no :5NJB.

Simply extend the openings minimally until the blade fits without binding (which indicates bending).

IF you love Pro but find them slightly harsh, this is a solution. If you find the ProGuards or SoftGuards to your liking, may not be for you.

Without prejudicing your trial, will state found ProLight as harsh as Pro but less efficient with slight growth recurring after 12 hours vs solid 36 with SoftGuards or any of the other normal exposure feather blades.

Reach out directly if wanting more info.

would you share your experience with these blades? I've only used the feather pros with the vector and really enjoy the shave.

Specifically which blade? Or all of them?

I just ordered some standard Kai Captain blades (not the 'milds') from Maggard Razors. I am curious to see how they compare with the Feather Pro and with the Kai Captain Milds. I think I read somewhere that they are a little smoother than the Feather Pros.

sergeysus and GoodShave will try to get a comparison review of the blades posted this weekend, admittedly on a badly damaged face with highly sensitive skin.

Below are my notes on the blades that I have tried so far in the Vector Ti. I have used these blades with other AC-style safety razors and barber razors/shavettes in the past. For some of the blades below, I found that they worked better in other razors of mine instead of the Vector. I have not owned the Vector very long, so fine tuning my technique with this razor may change my opinion of the blades below in relation to the Vector. The next blades I plan to try are the Kai Captain Titan Mild (which works well for me in my other AC-style razors) and the standard Kai Captain blades that I just received.

I shave every other day (instead of daily) so keep that in mind with the notes below. In parenthesis, I put the age of the blade to correspond with my notes.

Kai Captain Titan ProTouch MG (D1,2,3,3.5) - These were the first blades I tried with the Vector Ti. The blade can get bogged down a little in the dense growth of the mustache and chin areas but it gives a great two pass shave without touch ups. I think I would prefer an unguarded blade to handle those dense growth areas. This blade was smooth to me (other than in the two areas I mentioned).

Schick ProLine P-30 (D4.5+) - Shane at Blackland said these blades do not have consistent hole width (even in the same pack of blades) so he does not consider them compatible with the Vector. I have read some people really like them with the Vector. I tried loading a P-30 into the Vector and had challenges to get the blade to sit down in the top cap. Once I was able to get the blade to seat properly, I found the blade to be pretty rough so I abandoned that blade.

Feather Artist Club Professional (D2) - The Feather Pro blade was grabby but adding pressure (which Shane recommended) did not seem to make them shave better. I shaved half my face and neck with this blade before switching to the other blades for the shave.

Feather Artist Club Soft Guard (D0.5) - The Feather Soft Guard blade really bogged down in my first pass stubble, so I abandoned that blade after just a few strokes.
