Wow, that cleaned up nice. Definitely a stunning piece for your collection.

Can't wait to see how it shaves.[Image: d517f3c8aafa54406f59e2c737c13c47.jpg]

Thanks guys, I expect it to shave the same as the old types from the same time period but we'll see tomorrow. Video maybe over the weekend.

I'm hoping others will show us their ABC Sets. I know others have more and no doubt nicer ones out there to show !

Thu**ROSE**day December 14, 2023
Razor: ABC Empire Set
Blade: Wizamet
Brush: Vintage Walnut-Brass/Timberwolf Knot
Soap: Mammoth Funny Valentine
AS : Witch Hazel + CFG Black Rose
Fragrance:
Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,863

Thu**ROSE**day inspired by TommyCarioca 1st run with the Empire ABC Razor and as expected it shaves like any Old Type Gillette. It's an aggressive razor but if you find the proper angle and pressure it is a smooth and effective shave. Exactly what I expected and happy to finally have landed it after at least 5-6 years of hunting one that was reasonably priced. Best $65 I've spent in a long time for a razor. Also loving the Brush repaired by our Freddiep318ti that set a Timberwolf in it for me as requested. I recommend him for his skill & talent if you need it. Have a great day everyone !

Wow Dave, stunning SOTD. That razor looks brand new. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that razor is somewhere around 1910-1920's? Basically older than most folks out there? You truly do have a museum quality collection going.

EDIT: Just refreshed my memory by reading the top of the thread. Lol. Also did a quick search. If Google can be trusted, that specific set was early on..m 1909 they say. 104 years young. Guess it could be older than ALL folks out there.

I absolutely agree, Freddie has some amazing skill (and he's a very nice guy). We're lucky to have him here at DFS. I hope to see more folks utilizing his skills. He can definitely work some magic on these vintage brushes.

Have a good day!

Yep, over 100 yrs old. This date code is worn but best I can see, it's 1916-1918 for this one or older. Thanks and YES on Freddie being a GREAT guy !

Congratulations Dave on the 5-6 year hunt, very nice ABC Razor you've found. I know you are someone that appreciates it and will enjoy.
Can you imagine what that purchase would have been like back then, fancy.
