It smells exactly like fresh laundry that's been hanging on the line outside. Reminds me of my childhood. The scent combined with the performance makes it a favorite of mine.

That sounds refreshing. Might have to try it!
(Unfortunately, that's what I thought when I purchased Soap.)
Noses are different as we all know but I don't get "Landry" vibe with this one at all.  Perhaps there is a laundry product out there that matches this and if I used it I would understand?  This one got on the bus and left town.

If you missed out on the amazing Aion in the Nai base...it’s now in stock at WCS...with Free Shipping! And it’s not a Vegan base. That’s an error...

Here’s Rud’s Review....he gave it a 100! His highest score..... https://youtu.be/sH_7axtkxyw

I just finished seven consecutive days of shaving, the first six using GD Aion. I wanted to give this soap and extended test for a while, but was waiting for a blast of cold weather so I could best assess the post shave feel the GD Nai base is known for. If asked a few months back, I would have said that the GD Donkey base was my favorite soap base. It is easier to lather, and less thirsty, than the GD Mallard base. The Mallard base has the better post shave feel but, overall, I prefer the Donkey base. Then came the Janus Tallow w/lanolin base (JTL). This unseated Donkey for me. It's slicker and has better post shave, though it's sort of like Mallard in that it's thirsty and takes a little more work to lather. The small amount of extra time was worth it, however.

I had tried Aion/Nai a few times before, but not several days in a row. After day 3 or 4, I felt I had a good feel for the base. It doesn't take as much effort to lather as JTL. It's not quite as slick, but it is certainly slick enough. The scent is light and woodsy...non-offensive to me. I did use an aftershave with it each shave, but I made sure I used different types of aftershave products...alcohol splash, alcohol splash with oil, CL splash, balm, and splash + balm. The post shave feel was the best I have experienced in any soap, regardless of which aftershave product was used. The aftershave mainly affected the post shave feel just after shaving. The Nai base provided a great, supple, natural post shave feel that lasted for most of the day. It is like using a moisturizer that is built into the soap. But it doesn't have a heavy, balmy post shave feel.

For the sake of comparison, I went back to JTL this morning. Indeed, it was a thirstier soap and took more work to lather. The post shave feel is very good, but Nai/Aion is better. Nai with just a touch more slickness, like the slickness of JTL, would be as good of a soap as I can imagine using.

This soap has me seriously considering selling off a bunch of my collection and using just Nai. Of course, I would want an unscented version and a lightly scented citrus version for the warm months before I got rid of most everything else I own. But, if I could buy Aion and the other two at one time, I would seriously consider buying a one year supply and using a few special soaps I like for scent, just to break it up now and then.

For the sake of comparison, I am going to use unscented Siero for 4-5 days in a row next week to see how it compares to Aion. The following week, I will try unscented DG Milksteak. I am curious about how these highly regarded soaps compare to one another.

Just another in a litany of current artisan shaving soaps that try to be a "dermatologist in a tub". I can get better post shave results using a bottle of CeraVe, Neutrogena, L'Oreal, etc., moisturizer made in a real lab by real scientists. This post shave "face feel" frenzy has gone off the rails IMO.  Rolleyes

Why would I? I had two of his soaps before and to me they did nothing out of the ordinary. As well, IMO it's insane to pay $30 or more for mere SHAVING soap.

I guess I am more science oriented in my thinking. If you want to make your skin soft then buy a good moisturizer/balm. Better yet, buy a $4.00 bottle of salicylic acid at Walmart and some cotton rounds. That will make your skin softer/smoother than any shaving soap.

I've not tried salicylic acid, so I can't comment on its effectiveness. Again, I haven't tried it, so I can't comment on its effectiveness.
