All Hail Stan and ATT

An ATT M1 with the Atlas handle was my entry to the world of artisan stainless steel safety razors. I love it. The M1 has the perfect level of efficiency for my face.

Today the S1 with the Kronos handle arrived. I've been wanting this razor for a long time and finally pulled the paypal trigger. Stan shipped it quickly, at no cost, carefully packed.

The razor is beautifully crafted. I'd post pics but this is not an exotic piece of gear, I assume most of you know what the S1 looks like.

My only experience with a slant was a disastrous shave many years back with a Merkur slant. The ATT S1 is totally different. It feels even gentler than my M1, but it's very efficient, beautifully balanced with the Kronos handle, and gave me a BBS shave with three passes and a few touch ups, buffing my stubborn areas.

I used Soap Commander Endurance, my Plisson brush, and followed it with Stirling Coconut Lime After Shave then a touch of Kiehl's Post-Shave balm, which has a lot of aloe vera and is superb for me.

In a world where the price of everything keeps rising, Stan has been selling his magnificent razors for the same price these past three years or so, and he has been responsive whenever I've emailed with a question. The fit and finish are superb, on par with my Wolfman which I love but which, when it comes to the shave, is not better than my M1 or my S1 (based on today's first shave with the latter). Kudos to Stan and ATT.

When I first saw your post title I thought it was ALL HAIL SATAN at first glance and figured some artisan soap maker had a new soap scented with jalapenos or something and how stupid it was introducing in this hot weather. ATTs are nice. Now, let's all proofread our posts for an audience sometimes suffering heat stroke.

I've never owned or tried an ATT but I do admire and respect Stan.

I own Stan's six piece Open Comb set with Atlas Handle as well as the S2 Slant with Kronos Handle. The Razors are very well made, they have an "industrial" look that some might not like, but mine have been solid performers. Out of the six piece set I mainly use the R2, but on occasion have used the other plates. I've used the H2 when I've had several days of growth and it's performed well at giving me a very close/efficient shave. I've also used the M2 on occasion such as when The Wife and I are going out in the evening and I've already shaved that morning and just want a touch up before going out, otherwise the M2 would normally be too mild for me.

I'm really looking forward to Stan's new polished Razors that will be coming out, as well as an all Copper Razor that he will be releasing soon. Apparently the Head has been re-designed and will cover the blade tabs and will offer a different Blade angle, can't wait to see these! I'm hoping that Stan also offers his S2 in the new polished version, I would definitely grab one!

In the short history of these new generation razors we've seen no few go out of business, become difficult to acquire for various reasons or simply fade in popularity.
Meanwhile ATT has product ready to ship at a attractive price point with selection and periodic new innovation. I briefly enjoyed one, an open comb which is anathema
to my mental template of a razor. But it was splendidly made and PIFed to a close friend who loves the thing. I almost went blind and crippled hand and keyboard contesting for a LE Bronze only to lose the final draw and later watched slack jawed as the winner openly tried to sell it on the same forum. REAL CLASS. I intend to acquire my own ATT again someday.

The ATT M1 was my first steel razor as well. I quickly got a R1 baseplate for it after, and have used both the M1 and R1 plates regularly for months now. I do use them a bit less now, but that's mainly because I have more razors and keep a bigger rotation.

The S1 is my frist premium razor, and it still here after all this time. It's a great razor and I won't get rid of it, even though I don't use it as much these days.

I too started with the ATT M1 but in the Calypso Model. I really like Aluminum razors for their lightness and maneuverability. The ATT Calypso is a fantastic and well thought out razor. Like you, I also bought the R1 plate and switch between the M1 and R1 plates depending on what I feel my face needs. I love the flexibility.
