I am actually leaning toward the Pearl Adjustable Open Comb.

I have all except the Osprey. Love the Ambassador, but probably overkill for your first adjustable. I find the Flexi too heavy, and the highest adjustment levels aren't as efficient as I'd like. Heritage shaves well, but the adjustment mechanism can be a bit finnicky. Progress and Variant have almost identical head geometries. My Variant dial never lined up properly. Minor QA issue, but it's a bit irritating. I love the Progress, and that's the one I would recommend. I've had mine for almost 10 years and it's still one of my favorite razors.

I decided to order the Flexi OC. Should be here Wednesday and will give it a run Thursday morning.
Thanks for all of the valuable information.

I will be most interested to see if you end up changing razor settings in the middle of your shave.

I change aggression/efficiency by using multiple razors during the shave. I was never quite happy changing settings on an adjustable.

I am planning on starting low and dialing up. We’ll see how it goes.

First shave with the Flexi OC. First 2 passes on 3.0. Third pass on 4.0. Final clean up on 5.0. Very efficient razor and smooth at all settings. I’m going to fool around with the settings over the next few days. Tomorrow will try a set it and forget it at 3.5 for the 3 passes and perhaps dial it up for the final clean up. As you all know this is a heavy razor but well balanced so it did not feel unwieldy. Good grippy handle with no QC issues.

Yesterday’s shave left me very little stubble to shave this morning. I started on 2.0 for the first pass then went up to 3.0 and 3.5. Great result with no issues. As a daily shaver I probably won’t need to go above 3.5.
