AC SE Razor recommendations!

Did you consider the Razorock Hawk V2 in aluminium ? It's 20$ and good head geometry. It's not aggressive and gives good shaves. Can't go wrong at that price point.

I have that in mind too but some find it too mild. I am in favor of mid aggressive types and am not too sure.

At present I m looking for a SS Razor.

I'm in the too mild for me camp. I just sold my Hawk V2 razor. The General SS fits the bill perfectly for me. I've only shaved with the Feather Supers so far and it gets plenty close with very little irritation.

Feather supers are supposed to be wider compared to the other AC blades from Feather, Kai and Proline ? Did you find the hawk V2 milf with the feather supers too ?

I don’t know if this helps you but I have problems with some mild razors that don’t shave me close(GameChanger, Mamba) and the SS General is/feels mild but it’s really efficient. With regular Feather Pro and Schick Prolines the shave is super close BBS for me, with a bit of irritation. I use it the Kai mild blades and with a little buffing it’s an irritation free BBS shave. But my beard is not dense it just grows flat against the skin.

I don't have experience with a lot of different razors to be able to compare. That said, I really like my aluminum General. You should look for one of those in my opinion.

Here’s my $0.02 on the whole thing. Mind you, I’m not a light razor guy. I like to feel the weight and heft of a tool. That’s just me though. I’m sure that many here that have experience with the lighter weighted razors can attest to them performing just as good if not better than the heavier razors.

The write up is from a a question that a forum member placed that was very similar to yours and I gave my thoughts on the razors that I own and use in rotation....

“Plenty out there. But in all honesty, you already have the spectrum covered from mild to very aggressive. The Classic Cobra is as good as it gets for an AC styled razor that fits the bill nicely as a daily. If it’s a hole that’s burning in your pocket and you need to get one, there are a few out there that are readily available and some that only come up on the B/S/T on occasion, either discontinued or out of stock. Here are the ones that I would consider:

Colonial SS General= Good weight and balance. Works well with any AC blade and nicely efficient with good smoothness to boot. This could arguably be the best AC style razor out there in terms of price, workmanship, quality and overall effectiveness as a shaving tool. It’s nice....

Colonial Brass General= (Discontinued) If your lucky enough to see one in the wild, snatch it up. Mild, smooth but deceptively efficient. Works well with any AC blade. Awesome with a Pro Super.

Executive Shaving Claymore= Goliath & a Brute. And ugly as Sin and heavy. But damn, gives an excellent shave with more blade feel and a bit more aggressive than the Classic Cobra. Whiskers fear this razor. Did I say it was heavy? Hit the gym for this one.....

El Jefe/MR-SE= (Discontinued-El Jefe) The El Jefe is the only “adjustable” SE razor via manufacturing tolerance screw up. It can be as mild as a putty tat, or as ferocious as a Sabre Tooth Tiger. Excellent on either one, IF you don’t mind the slight play and aligning it correctly every shave. It’s close brother, the MR-SE is not as mild to wild, and has a much tighter tolerance that gives a very nice and efficient shave. Pretty smooth too.

SS Hawk DLC= (Discontinued, but a V3 is in the works) Read Brass General, it’s about the same thing. Very nice and comfy razor. With a Pro, it’s dynamite.

There’s probably a couple more out there that I’ve missed and I did not include any light razors as I think your looking for more of a heavier razor. Do you need any of the ones mentioned? No, but if you’ve got an itchy finger that can’t wait to hit the “add/update cart” or “buy now” tab, the razors above might/will suit your fancy”......

I owned and used brass general and ATT SE1+SE2 for a while and tried a number of diffrent blades.

Brass General  is a very heavy handle and felt slightly unbalanced. I swapped the handle with the ATT Bamboo and it felt more balanced to use. It's a very efficient razor. On a mild side but a great performer and easy to get used to. It does get slightly clogged if you use preshave oil and have a week long beard.

ATT SE  is a very well made beautiful razor. The bamboo handle is ergonomic and easy to hold and maneuver. The OC head is a a bit too scritchy for my liking but SE1 plate(both plates have .61 mm blade gap) gives me bbs shaves with minimal number of rounds.

I got rid of brass general and use ATT SE1 once in a while. I have a very thick hair and somewhat sensitive skin and vintage GEM style razors work better for me. I keep going back to using my favorite Gem ClogPruf

I bought over the ATT SE1 from my friend. I find it more efficient than "General". Perfect weight, balance and ergonomics.

I want to try Razorock some day but still confused between the DLC coated Hawk and the V2.

I am brand new to SE razors and have yet to purchase one so I’m grateful to all those who’ve contributed to this thread. That being said, I’m probably gonna wait for the new Paradigm SE razor that will use AC blades.

I can only say that I absolutely love my RazoRock Hawk V2. It's been my most used razor since I received it. I get BBS with two passes and a little touch up just about every time I use the razor. I get 8-9 shaves from a single Schick Proline blade and the razor only costs $30!

You just convinced me to buy one!
