My ATT Calypso R1 arrived today. Just my initial observations. As usual ATT does a good job with the packaging and presentation of their razors and this one was no exception. Since it is aluminum it is very light as expected. The machining of the razor is on par with ATT SS DE razors I have used. There are minor tool marks on the inside top plate. The anodizing is flawless and the color is much nicer than I expected. The gray is darker in color almost a gun metal gray color while the blue base plate in not nearly as bright as it appears in photos. I purchased this as Christmas gift to myself from my Mom. Each year, I do this and go visit her with the gift so she can see what she has given me. This way I get something I want and she gets a kick out of the day as well. My Christmas with her is this coming Sunday, so I will post my thoughts on the razor as I use it next week.

I have tried the Kronos R1 and would like a little less aggressiveness. Would anyone that has used both the SS R1 version and the Calypso have any feed back on the Calypso being less aggressive due to it being lighter? Or should I go with the M1. The R1 was close for me, but I just...well i shave real early and fast. I do like a medium razor, I am seeing the term medium more and more. I love my 46-47 aristocrat for reference.

If there are any more M and/or R plate experiences, it would be nice to read about them here or on one of the other threads. There are two or three Calypso related threads on DFS currently, I believe, one of which was mentioned above.
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

What razors in your den do you like? The R1 is definitely efficient, I had a bad flare up of arthritis in my hands while putting the R1 through its paces and had some problems, not the razors fault.
I guess my razor I like use the most. The General with mild pink blade, classic & king with pro guard blades,BBS1, Gillette flare tip, 34c,r41,timeless .95 gap,Oneblade. ATT H1 and ikon tech is to much for me. Don't care to much for my mongoose batch 2 Stainless steel. When I got the general I liked how light it was. That's why I got the aluminum ATT M1. I also don't really care for the ATT S2 it's like I'm dragging a rake across my face.
