Indeed, this is my third attempt at getting into boar brushes. I used a Semogue 610 early on and a Semogue Owners Club for quite a while, but never got into either of them. This seems more dense and has more backbone while being a bigger knot. I used a method I heard about where you leave it soaking in cold water for a couple days then lather it in hot water to accelerate the break-in process. While I can't say for certain that the process is what did it since I didn't do a side-by-side comparison, I do know that it seems to be breaking in more quickly. Just four shaves in this morning and the tips seem to be softening up and on the verge of splitting.
Definitely worth the money for the handle alone if you want it, but I would recommend giving the boar hair a shot, too, if anyone is interested.
