A tough snow removal day - March storm pics added

Supposedly it's not going to be the crud that Phil got last time, but another major storm is here and blasting us. It'll be over on Thursday so it'll be here for awhile. Up to 18" for us. Isn't March wonderful?! And we had 2 weeks of springtime weather! I just don't think March cares. Another one spotted on the horizon too, but too far out to make predictions.

COME ON SPRING!

I saw that when I just checked the weather radar earlier. You guys are getting dumped on again! It hasn't been as bad here in Michigan lately, but I'm with you. COME ON SPRING! We've had a couple 60 degree teaser days, but that's about it.

And another snow dump is on the horizon after this one. But it's March and that's when we can expect our worst winter storms. I lowered my plow skids to hopefully keep the plow above anything I can plow that isn't snow.

Phil is in the mega dump zone yet again. He could be impressed with that.

FWIW, we lost power twice today, just enough to be a PITA but it wasn't lasting. I never got to transfer over to my home power utility (I was within seconds), powered up the computer, then lost power again. As I write we're on what I call the home power UPS, so of course we haven't lost power again. The public utility is supplying our power through the inverters and the inverters are keeping the batteries fully charged at the same time. If the power goes out we lose one cycle of power (the lights flicker if one doesn't blink) and the inverters come on drawing juice from the batteries. We can run off of the batteries for hours as long as we don't need massive current requirements.

We got clobbered. Looks like 23 or 24 inches.
We went out at 2:30 PM to do the first clearing. We had 13 inches.

This is ML running the snowblower. She is a great partner for stuff like this. My muscles give out before hers do!!!

We went back out at 8:30 PM and had an additional 8 inches.
Then this morning there were 2 - 3 inches. I just cleared my car and left for work. we both have all wheel drive so 3 inches is nothing.

The roads were in surprisingly poor shape in NH.
And absolutely terrible in MA.

As always, PhilNH5 and ShadowsDad, just you and yours stay safe.  Every part of the United States has some type of potential disaster when Mother Nature gets ticked off.  You gents are living through yours just as I have been affected by major fires and felt (so far, thank goodness) minor earthquakes.  When I lived in Toledo, the potential for tornadoes was present from time to time.  It’s always something.  At least spring and summer are on the way and your beautiful part of the country will be reaching its finest.  Again, just take care.

Thanks Freddy. As long as I am home I am reasonably safe. We are stocked and prepared. It is the commute to work that is dangerous. But heck, I work in Mass - even on a warm sunny day it is dangerous

We got a lot. just walking around it was knee deep, but that was walking on top of what I packed down with each step so it was more than just "knee deep". Yet another wet snow. Stop moving it and it packs concretelike. Plus, the tires packed it down instantly and turned it to ice. I could have used my chains for the rear wheels, but I got it done and didn't get stuck even once. 2 1/2 hours later I was done for today. It's till snowing and the lighting was absolutely flat, so tomorrow I'll finish it. We're getting a lot of accumulation piled up on the ground now, and not just the snowbanks that I make.

And this is performing my least favorite winter chore. Raking the roof from the ground.

This is ML. We took turns and spotted each other after 10 minutes. That's about all I can do at a time.

For all the effort you can only remove so much from the ground. But every little bit helps. Especially since it was about 30 inches deep on the roof.

I'm just kidding, Phil and Mary Lou.  Virtually every place has advantages and disadvantages as places to live.  Spring and summer will be here before you know it.

Phil, I cleaned up over 2 days. The 2nd day I asked my neighbor, with a bucket on his tractor, to back drag the 90° area in front of my shop and the genny shed. I simply couldn't effectively back drag it and he could.

I'm hoping the next "fourtheaster" goes out to sea.

I took advantage of the warm temps on Thursday to push snow banks back and make room for more, but not having more is preferable by far.

First day of spring today and we are in for 10 - 13 inches tomorrow night.

This is not the most snow for a season. But for some reason it has been arduous on my wife and I.

Calgon take me away.......
