Chris, I hope things get better for you, that your home gets back to normal, and most of all that your wound heals quickly. Thanks so much for the reminder that we're wielding very sharp steel against very soft skin!

BadDad, I just saw this and I hope, by now, that wound is well on the way to mending and that your flat is back to some sense of normalcy.

What comes through this mess is the positive attitude you have shown here.  That is the best thing that has come through in your posts here (and elsewhere around the site).  While frustrated and upset, your first post was still to warn others.  Your second was to say that it could have been worse and you were thankful to your neighbor, landlord, and boss for their help. Happy2

Once all is back to normal, my fondest wish is for you to be able to replace those books.  Reading is, by far, my biggest hobby and I must always have books and magazines around.  Some just pass through before being passed on and some are permanent residents.  Again, may you find replacements for what was lost and may you find new experiences in other books that may be new to you. Smile

Sorry to hear about this Chris. I hope the cut is healing quickly and that the water situation is straightened out.

Everything is getting back to normal here...

The mess prompted a spur of redecorating and rearranging throughout the house and that is still ongoing, but the mess from the water is taken care of. Everything is dry and functioning as it should be. Thank goodness for the dry heat of the California desert...

The wound is well on the way to fully healed. Straights bite hard, but clean. The edges are so sharp the wounds start healing immediately, so it doesn't take long. I'm shaving around it for the moment, but it should be fine in a couple more days.

Thanks for the comments and well wishes, gentlemen. It was helpful to share and vent a bit.

OUCH! the double insult is books are virtually impossible to recoup even monetary value under insurance policies. I finally learned not to loan or even display my library until selling it under financial duress. Retrieving a 'borrowed' rare onion skin copy of CANDIDE with hand colored illustrations and uncut pages with a famous opera singer's inscribed name TORN IN HALF from a sister in law using it as an impromptu doorstop was the last straw.

Chris,
Early September my trouble free "should last at least 25 years" roof decided that after 44 years it had enough.

It cost me over $4,000 dollars. Yes, I was insured but for only $1,000. After all who would know what would happen to house prices in 44 years.

Fortunately I am too cowardly to attack my head with a sharp blade.

I hope you make a quick recovery without any mementos.

Mickey

Oh wow, an unintended water feature and a nasty shaving cut... Sorry to hear of your unfortunate events. Hope you are on the mend and the house dries out soon.

Well last night I was able to walk through the entire living room in my socks...dry and comfortably.

I also managed to shave over the slice. No problem at all. Clean and smooth with no grabbing.

So it would seem that things are getting back to normal...
