I had the opportunity to talk to Cyril Lelégard, founder of Le Père Lucien. I contacted him by email to get additional information re: L'Huile du Barbu as a pre / after shave and AS lotion. Being French, may you believe or not, this is my first purchase at LPL.

Surprisingly, he phoned me yesterday night (late night) and we spent an hour or so talking about soap manufacturing, the art of combining oils and essential oils, how he sees the future of LPL. It was great time.

I told him that many shavers from dfs.com liked his soaps very much and that they often rank LPL in their top 5 European preferences. He ignored such things because Cyril is a self-entrepreneur, managing everything from A to Z by himself. He hasn’t time to dialog with wet shavers on a regular basis, neither French nor American. Beside, his English is close to none. He then asked me to leave a simple message to you. He wants to say a big thank you to DFS wet-shavers for supporting LPL. That such support is great for it helps him in particular and artisans in general to keep craftsmanship alive.

PS: I share no business or personal interest of any kind with this brand. Cyril ask me to pass a message. Now it's done.

Now this is  coincidence.

This morning is the first morning I felt a bit hot and reached for a summer scent and I chose ... wait for it ... LPL Rose De Pushkar. Pretty cool coincidence huh? Smile

He hasn’t time to dialog with wet shavers on a regular basis, neither French nor American.

"if Le Père Lucien grows, I will always be available to my clients.  ... I remain active in the forum",

What forum?

In any case, I like Rose de Pushkar

Well, well, Grim, I am not sure to understand what you have in mind. I just circulated his message and fractions of our discussion.

It seems that the article on Reddit is an interview given by LPL founder to a french journalist in some french newspaper. The article was translated by a wet shaver. I can easily imagine that when you are a small artisan, you seize every opportunity to increase your awareness. French WS market is rather small.

What forum? He is probably referring to the forum called "Rasage-traditionnel.com". I am an active member of this forum. LPL sometimes posts comments and advices there but it's very far from being on a regular basis. As far as being available to his clients, yesterday's phone call tends to prove it. But I doubt he could reply to requirements / e-mails written in english since he doesn't speak it at all (maybe his wife do).

As of his business options: yesterday night, he pretended that he manages everything by himself. I conclude that his business model hasn't changed between now and then.

In any case, that's cool you like Rose de Pushkar. For the first time this morning, I purchased the Tradition soap+ Huile du Barbu. I hope that I will enjoy it. Did you experience these two?

Here is the original article http://lejournaldeleco.fr/le-pere-lucien...-du-monde/

I was just commenting on what he said. Its clear "he's busy" and even talks about outsourcing production in some way

I also have the "original" scent

Own 8 LPL. Great great great soap. Have emailed Cyril several times in English. Perhaps he used Google translate or the wife, as you suggest.
