A&E New "Slick Stick"

Has anyone tried it? I would sure like to have a great pre shave, because my GD will not stay good it goes rancid.

Really? Grooming dept products go bad?

I was going to buy some next week.

Okay here's the story I bought one and I forget the scent but it started getting rancid, like a male cat when it sprays before you ever neuter it. Okay so I contacted MO he sent me another one, well it's been 5 months now and it stinks like nothing you would want to put on your face just like the other one and it turned darker. I mean I've used the thing maybe 4-6 times and I'm not happy one bit about it.  Waste of good money if you ask me. It did work very good though

Well that's my experience with grooming Department pre-shave. Other products would be in another category. Got a couple of his soaps and they seem very good

I have a decent amount of Grooming Dept soaps and I never had any of them go rancid on me. I was part of the Veritas mess where the soap arrived in liquid form. He replaced the liquid ones with properly cured soaps relatively promptly.

I have become frustrated with GD soaps because of two main things - a) the constant tinkering with the soap bases does not allow for production excellence due to the constant changes and b) most scents only are made one time and when they're sold out, no return. Every artisan has hit and miss scents, but when you find ones that you do like, it is nice to have availability to purchase more.

Back to the original topic of pre shave. Most of the modern soaps are so good, preshave is not needed. When I do find them useful is when I am using older lesser performing soaps.

When I do use them, I like the creams like Grooming Dept, Proraso, etc or the rub ons like the Cube/Tube similar to the A&E offering. I don't have much benefit from preshave oils. I do think they help a little with the old soaps, but as I cycle through the older soap bases, I don't envision using preshave very much.

Does anybody have an ETA on this pre shave

No I have not. You'll need to follow A&E in Facebook to find out.

Does anybody have an ETA on this pre shave

Peter published a video a few days ago stating that he was waiting for the packaging to arrive for the preshave.  I think he's pretty satisfied with the formula with little to no tweaks needed. 

As soon as the tubes arrive, I would expect him to start producing them.  With the holidays upon us, I bet the earliest we see them released is late January to the VIPs for The Shaving Shop Club and sometime thereafter for the general public.
