A bit of modern history: Above The Tie

I just came across the following article and wanted to share it with you good folks.  It is both a look at the founder of ATT razors and King Camp Gillette, as well as the fine art and science of precision engineering.

Eric, I had read this article once before but enjoyed reading it again.

One point that struck me was how many cartridges are thrown into landfills.  I have a small blade bank in my bathroom medicine cabinet (cost, $1.00).  I have had it for at least six years.  Discounting when I am out of town, on average I use a DE, SE, or Injector blade for seven days and have traditional wet shaves, again on average, about 45 weeks a year.  That little blade bank is just about full (though the Injector blade I finished using this morning still went in).  Therefore, there are something like 270 blades in that blade bank which is probably not much bigger than two or three multi blade cartridges.  Sometimes, old really is new again.

Does anyone know if there has been any changes to the design of the plates since 2012 when the first ones came out ? If I purchase a plate from 2012 is it the exact same thing as a plate from 2016?

Thanks, I will definitely ask him and see what he says. A local shave shop by my house has 2012 plats at a good price. I just wanted to make sure its the same plates as the once being sold now before I purchase them.

ATT is awesome, they are the first modern razor company (that I know of) that designed their razors to eliminate blade alignment issues.
