3D printed SE razors

I just ordered one in fine plastic from Shapeways. Downloaded the file and they figured out all the printing details. I have no idea what I did but have purchased razors from Shapeways before. Should get it first or second week in January. Was not expensive in plastic but they gave me about 10 material options so I took the cheapest. Real gold is over 4k and aluminum is under $100.

$4k!!! Sounds like a bargain

Awesome! The cap needs to flex a little for proper blade tension, and real gold doesn't do that, so, fine plastic was a good choice.

It is not a done deal as Shapeways has to approve the design and feasibly but I am confident they will make it. This is a good company. They ship thousands of finished products every day and located in New York.

I've taken this razor for a spin three times now, and I'm really enjoying it. I hope you'll like it as well. I don't know how much input you have with Shapeways when ordering prints but I just thought I share this. The ideal location for the seams is highlighted in red if you can request them. And of course 100% infill.

The red highlights in the picture are the best locations for the seams

I ordered the razor from Shapeways but I think I made an error. I sent them the instructions for Gem Dot 1 which does not include the handle.

A good way to road test these designs is to print one then do a passaround. I've and others have done it elsewhere with 3D printed designs specifically in my case with the Wabbit designed by Twhite over at another forum. There should be no issues doing it here from what I can tell.

All issues regarding production of the head and handle have be resolved. Thanks to Roger for resizing the handle I was able to download it to the printers. I should have both head and handle on December 31.
