Wow! Truly looks excellent. Does it shave as awesome as it looks??? I need to find someone locally that can do this. Do you print yours yourself?? Or do you use a dedicated shop? Thanks

Thanks! It definitely provides an awesome shave. Plate #3 is a bit too aggressive. Yes, all my designs I print myself. Printing and testing and printing again is really the only way to get the results I want just right. I printed my last design in transparent green resin, and I was able to print the cap and thread-post as one solid piece. This gives the cap a cleaner look. If it holds up well after some use, I'll upload the files for SLA printing.

Wow... quite the collection laying there lol. I second the production and selling to forum users . Kinda what they did with Tom’s TNNSER . I love my TNNSER but having that adjustability factor with the other baseplates rocks. Plus that one bowl is just plain awesome! Sometimes I wish I was creative

that print looks pretty good!  you ought to start selling them for those of us who can't be bothered with getting them printed by a 3rd party and then trying to fit them together.  Tongue

Can I get an AMEN ?

I assume it would ultimately be up to the forum moderation. I know on some other sites you'll get clipped if you don't register as a vendor for anything custom commercial or otherwise. With that said end user in almost all cases is going to have to pay for it to printed somehow either through a 3rd party or buying the materials to do it themselves if they already have the printer. Might as well be the designer if they have the capability and willingness to do so as long as both parties can agree on price.

I'd like to add that the triceratops razors will work with not just a Gem style blade but also an injector blade without any modifications.

Hmm... It's been suggested to me several times that I should sell my own designs. Bottom line is that I'm just a wet-shaver who enjoys the hobby. My vintage collection includes the usual suspects except for a few pieces that are worth bragging about. I restore and hone my own vintage razors and I have sold some on auction sites when I have too many of the same, so, I don't know how big of a gray area exists in the vendor registry but I guess I'm in there somewhere. When it comes to 3d printing, the reality is that to me and maybe others, it is just a novelty that enhances the hobby. I know some of my designs are unique compared to others, and the ones that I have given to friends and family have only sparked their curiosity to the point that they are now buying old and new shaving gear and are now calling themselves wet-shavers. And I think that's pretty cool.

On the flip side. It seems that more people are actually paying for printing services instead of printing their own shaving gear. And from what I've seen, the results are questionable. Not to mention the fact that most are over-paying for these small pieces of plastic. I design and I share. That's my contribution to the hobby. But if this means that non-wet-shavers will benefit from my designs, it might as well be me or others who share the same interest. Sorry for the lengthy reply. Thanks for that bit of info. Much appreciated.

we only charge a very modest $25/yr fee and it's more about being fair to the other merchants since they're paying the fees too.

my guess is that most people who own a 3d printed razor had a 3rd party service print theirs. and for some, like myself, we can't be bothered with possibly having to file and sand the top cap and base plate so they fit together properly - we'd rather pay someone else to do this for us.

most 3rd party services will charge $20-30 plus shipping to print most razor designs....more if you want to use better materials.

Figure a lot of people are not going to invest in a printer and time needed to learn how to use it just to print a few razors or shave gear. They will pay someone else to do it for one off items instead. You can offer printing services for your designs and still keep things open source. The way to do it simply is open an etsy storefront and only offer finished versions of your designs but still leave the designs publicly available and provide links to thingiverse or directly on the etsy storefront. Just make sure you aren't violating the creative commons license when you do. Just make sure the license is part of the sale process like a EULA agreement that the customer is supposed to read but scrolls down to the bottom and clicks okay before purchasing.

As far as this place goes linking to etsy storefront or on other sites that aren't restrictive should be good enough then. Though if you make more than $25 printing up razors each year I'd just register as a vendor as per the above post.

I also see it this way offering 3d printing services for your designs is not going to disrupt the commercial offerings. Wet shavers tend to be ADHD and a 3D printed razor no matter how unique or good it works is not going to stop them from buying other razors. It is going to be the wives or kids that shut that down before a 3d printed razor will.

$25/yr is more than modest and will be happy to register when I start selling my designs.
