I am going to have to make this one last forever...cant afford any mishaps.

Im also not buying the only 100 pieces spiel....esp since numbers are no longer
imprinted on the razors (unless I got that wrong)

The razor is very good shaver and looks quite luxurious.
However I could pay this amount of cash, if the design is unique and it has limited production.
Since, I would pay for his time which he spent for designing the model.
But this became a mass produced item, all 2021, 2021MC, 2022, 2022L, 2022MC have very similar design.
All design fee shared between many razors. I could pay $$$ to an artisan not to a factory.

Buying from Dovo is 100% a safe option. Also, the price is really high, higher than what I paid from my Wolfmans.

My biggest fear with this razor though is the weight. I don't seem to like heavy razors. Imagine that the last razor I bought from this maker was the SE50 and that was many years ago. I couldn't get used to the weight...

With all due respect, I think the Sailor is far, far from being mass-produced. With regards to literal production volume, I understand Murat produces a small handful of razors every week, which is probably about the same level as James @ Wolfman, and I would say off the top of my head that most other high-end adjustables (Muramasa, Taiga, Konsul) are produced in higher numbers.

With regards to the craft, as I understand it, the Sailor isn't produced any differently from other artisan razors. CNC-machined & hand-finished, it's not magic, but certainly very different from a product made on an assembly line in a factory.

I see the fact that the design of the more recent Sailors doesn't differ much as a positive; it actually shows that Murat's process of incremental improvements is converging to a matured product.

My take is that the changes are not targeting improvement as much as designed to differentiate year models.  Perhaps with the exception of making the head lighter and smaller, also debatable as an improvement since some of us like heavy razors.  When you think about it some change has to be made or you can't sell as a new year model.  It's a marketing strategy.  Seems to be working too since there are many Sailor fans lined up to buy the newest year model, which is pretty much the same as last year with one main difference: Price.

Apologies, I'm sort of new to this so I don't really get the sense behind buying multiple razors, esp. when talking about an adjustable. In fact, the reason I got a Sailor was to entirely avoid that rabbit hole!  Smile

Perhaps you could extend a hand to help me out of the hole?  On second thought you had better send down a rope, a long one.

Precisely ....for me, it was time to end the experimenting and enjoy the spoils.

I only keep a Sailor 2021 MC and a limited edition Taiga Ti in the stable.

These two replicate just about every world class razor made.

Between them , they cover a lot of territory....Sailor is heavy battle ax, Taiga is light and sleek.

S is steel, T is titanium. S is matt, T is mirror polished

S and T are both smooth as hell.

I prefer lower settings on S, higher settings on T.

Both let me go sideways on my neck on the lowest settings.

I could buy more razors for sure...but why would I need
anything else?

I didn't need a Sailor but I certainly wanted one.  Smile   Some of us have self control, some of us don't.  Guilty as charged your honor.

I have little self control. Smile

Let to right
Front: '17, '19, '20Proto
Rear: '21 MC, '21Proto, '22??

The back right just came today. Not sure what it's name is. Has a '22 handle with a slightly modified '19 head. This is the razor Murat posted a couple videos on IG about.

Well done Murat, thank you for your consideration. I certainly appreciate it. It is a great addition to my collection.[Image: 28c928b2b90b0a4d792a58791eac13f0.jpg]
