I am definitely interested but still curious about the quirks you mentioned in another thread. What quirks? Please be specific since it is far from an insignificant purchase and I would like to know as much detail on negatives as positives of the razor. Thanks again for your input.
Again, I'm not sure what your are referencing or what post you saw or the context in which my statements were made or to which model. If you can point me to my post, I'll be glad to address it. Anything I know about Sailors is well documented in this thread.
You seem to be one of the most knowledgeable about the Sailor line. Thanks for you patience as I dispel doubt before I jump in.
Regarding my question, here is your response to a member post on another forum, "Should I buy a 2021 Rocnel Sailor, If so, why?"
One line of your response: "The Sailor is superb, if you can get past the inherent quirks." Sorry to be so focused on the word but before I spend the bucks what quirks were you referring to? Is there anything other than the weight and head size that you have already noted that could be considered negative? Thanks once again for your input.
If you scroll back some pages, you will see discussions on the 2020 head attachment with superglue. Some consider that a negative for that model, I don't. I've not asked specifically about the 2021 production or the 2021 MC head attachment method but I'm sure there is a post buried in this thread by another user who did ask....IIRC, Murat said only the 2020 model uses Loctite. Murat is pretty active on Instagram and he is very approachable if this may be an issue for you.
Some guys have noted the dot does align perfectly with the button on their particular model. I'm not sure if this has been an issue with any of the MCs or not...or even if this is a deal breaker for you.
Dome height and weight are going to be the biggies. The 2021 dome height and weight were cut down a good bit from the 2020 tho. The 21 essentially has the same head profile as a Wolfman WR2, to be fair. Probably explains why they feel so similar. I will edit this post with a photo for clarification.
Handle length could be an issue on the production 21. The MC has a slightly smaller diameter handle and it is 5mm longer than the production 21.
Oh...another thing is lack of user serviceability. You probably aren't going to take these things apart for cleaning.
That's about all I can think of that I would consider quirks...or negatives, even tho they aren't deal breakers to me, obviously.
Edit. OK..."essentially the same" might be strong. They are similar for sure. The baseplate of the WR2 is wider so I had to put the MC on a business card to try and align them. Hopefully, the photo helps.
