With the longer handle and the golden ring, the MC has some similarities with the 2020 Sailor - I am interested to hear how it shaves.

Just a question...I thought the MC shipped with a stand....and yet I don't see a
hole at the base of the handle.
Is the stand included or not?
Apologies. Yes, a stand shipped with it. A 270g behemoth. The receiver does not go all the way thru like some others. He had a lot of Not a chance this thing falls over.

Murat told me some time ago he produced (10) 2021's that had a smaller diameter handle.  He did it for those demanding a lighter weight.  I think it cut 10g or so.  It was a "slim" version.  I actually had one of them on order when the MC was introduced.  I switched my order. essentially.  I only bring it up because I think the MC has the Slim's handle diameter but 1/4" added to the length.

Initial impressions:
  • Balance point is virtually the same, about a 1/4" behind the knurling.
  • The smaller diameter and added length is noticeable.  In a good way.  The MC feels like it will be easier to control.
  • Despite only a 5g weight difference, the MC feels even lighter.
  • The finish looks to be the same.  The big difference is the ends of the head on the MC is brushed instead of polished.
  • If there is a difference in the head, I can't see it.
The 24kt gold ring IG post says "please contact us for your customized orders".  That makes me think there may be some other finish options?  Full mirror would be cool.  Just a thought.

Beautiful James, now let's hear how the shaves compares to the 2020&2021 Sailors

Thank you, gentlemen.

I ran out of time for shaving today. Tomorrow morning I will run it for a meeting. I will have 5 days growth to knock out.

It looks good in pics, and Im sure it shaves well too.
Trying to set some sort of expectation, I suppose.
I was under the impression that it was called Master Collection because,
you know, made from start to finish by a Master Craftsman....that sounded
appealing.

I know you can't tell who assembled it.....I guess I was curious as to whether there
are there any signs that the finish is better or more refined than the stock non-MC 2021 Sailor.

No sir, I didn't take it as treading. I was trying to gently make a point. We really are all pawns to DE marketing. As you've recently noticed, words get stretched, and numbers get inflated to suit the artisan's/retailers need to sell gear. It is a beast that must be fed, words and numbers be damned. That is the cynic in me.

I've studied the 2 razors closely. If there is a difference in the finish, it is lost to my eye. The grinds on the top cap of the MC are laser straight and parallel to the bar, unlike the prototype. The grinds are straight but not parallel to the bar. It can be seen in the close up of the caps.

Again tho, I don't have a production 21. Maybe someone that does can comment on my photos?

I like how the side of the head states the year on the MC.

Also noticed the dial dot is rounded and smoothed off, with a bit of shine to it.

Love the return of the gold ring, really sets the razor off.

Outstanding - even if it doesn't shave, you still have a museum piece!   Tongue

Usage question. Are most folks inclined to take the blade out in between shaves with an adjustable razor?

Yes no expections for me. DE, SE, and shavettes. Then on a magnet to dry.

Ha! I had an adjustable museum piece that didn't shave all that well. It was called Janus!

I am spoilt by great (for me) gear. There is no room in my den for any razors suffering performance issues.

You tried a Sailor?
