That's one way to look at it. I wonder how long we'll last?

Lol.  That's a nice collection of razors sir.
I like to show my wife pictures of those of you that have a lot more things than I do, haha.
( Note to self remember to show wife this picture before she asked how much my new Razor cost)
Thanks.
I always look behind me when someone calls me sir. I'm Jim.

Great collection of gear. It is always nice to identify men with a bigger problem than me. Thanks. Smile

(05-16-2021, 01:31 AM)LOOT Wrote: I really have a thing for adjustables. Gillette is my vintage drug of choice. By 2017 I had a decent little collection of some hard to get gear. I had also just kinda gotten over them and was just starting to dabble in modern razors.

Now, my modern adjustable collection is limited to the Sailor Series from Rocnel. As my Gillette interest waned in 2017, the Sailor was released, just in time! I've taken to collecting them now. Recently, I was lucky enough to get my hands on the 2021 #3 Prototype. I've gotten only 2 shaves in with it, but initial reaction is quite positive. If the 2020 is an adjustable WR2, the the 2021 is an adjustable WR1.

2021 has increased blade feel in the low gaps that is linear and consistent through the range. It's not quite as smooth in the upper gaps as the 2020, but its no 2019 on the face either.

The 2021 is well made. Well balanced. Still quite handsome like the 2020, and operates smoothly, just like I expected.

Even slimmed down by 40g or so from 2020, the 2021 still feels substantial. A lot of that loss in weight was in the length of the handle. The 2021 is back to the 2017 75mm length.

New for 2021 is a matching stand. The stand has a peg for the hole in the base of the handle. The base is hefty and the connection is tight enough to prevent accidental tipping.

The packaging is the best I've ever seen. The 2020 blue wooden boxes have been outdone by the 2021. The box makes you feel like you are holding something special. Smaller than the 2020 and more elegant. The straps to hold the razor in place are a much welcomed addition.

Presentation was very nice and I agree with others on the fit, finish and it’s unique looking which i like. Feels really good in hand which Im happy about as II had some concerns on the 75 mm handle length. Its well balanced.
Going to shave with it tonight which will be 2 1/2 days growth. With that amount of growth I could pull out a number of razors like the Blackland Ti , WR2 1.35 SB, Yates H plate and Rex on 5 setting for example so any suggestions on what setting to use for my first shave with the Sailor? Based on my week long experience with a 2019 I was thinking setting 2 or 3. I don’t know how the shaves going to go but so far I like this 2021 much better than the much heavier 2019. So can’t wait to take it for its first spin.

Set it to 4. It should easily outperform the 135. I've not used the others you listed....but 4 should be a good baseline. You should be able judge where it falls on the spectrum pretty good.
