Initially I ordered the bulb, but then I bought the fan from another member here. So now I own both.
Brad is right, the bulb is a little more "springy" with slightly more backbone than the fan.
The fan knot splays easier than the bulb. The bulb knot is "tighter" slightly with lather while the fan releases lather quite easily.
Both have amazing soft tips.
I think the fan knot would be ideal for those who bowl lather the majority of the time, while the bulb is better for those who face-lather.
I'm glad I bought both! Wink

And we still have some left--both bulbs and fans. Just follow this link to snag one before they're gone....

Received my Fan the other day and it is an absolute work of art. Lathers like a dream and it will only get better from here. Thanks Mr. Sears. Very happy with my purchase. Cheers.

Looking for a knot with good back bone that will ship to Canada. I was going to buy Declaration as I already have the Shavemac but was very turned off by the email I received from Scott and the lack of responses. So I am again on the hunt. Love my shavemac although it went too plush too fast. It’s still got back bone just it’s a lot softer... I think I used it too much as it is just a joy. Anyhow would like to give other artisans a try. Can someone describe the feel off the Brad Sears?

I bought the DFS fan style brush and reserved comment until I had several uses under my belt.

I own a Savile Row, M&F, Paladin and some Boar.

This brush is on the top of the heap. Soft Gel tips, with a great release.

If you don’t have one, you are missing out. Thanks DFS and Brad for the awesome brush.

Gentlemen,

Nancy and I are quite grateful to all who have invested in our brushes and humbled that Andrew and the other DFS Moderators invited us to create what we believe to be a very special brush for you.

Right now, nine more Ivory DFS handles remain, plus one in Cobalt that's dedicated for the 2018 Movember campaign.   And we have exactly three 28mm 1804A2 Fan knots in stock.

The way this has to work is when an order comes in for a brush with one of these Fans, it has to be first come/first served.  We cannot hold any back.  I say that because, as some will remember, all 25 Fans allocated for DFS sold quickly, proving far more popular than expected.  For that reason, we announced the decision to fill both DFS, along with our other brush orders, from our normal stock of 1804A2 Fans.

We have more knots on order and hope--but cannot guarantee--they will be made to the same specifications and filled with the same hair as the 1804's.  At this writing, I have not heard a shipping date from the maker.

Just want everyone to know where things stand.

Thank you all!  And best wishes for a good weekend!

Thanks for all you and Nancy do, Brad. I’m just glad I got my Barrister ordered with the 28mm 1804A2 fan in time!

You guys are killing me!  I want one of these brushes with the fan knot so bad, but I have other obligations right now.  And, I'm a grown, responsible man.  Huh  So, I will show restraint.(maybe I can stay out of the dog house, too)

Brad ESBrushmaker, one thing about the DFS LE project, though, I will definitely be keeping you on the radar for a new brush sometime here in the near future.  You do beautiful work, sir!

Well, Scott CCity, it sounds like you just ordered the brush, so we have to give you some time.  But, you do know that we require picts of your new brush when they are available!  The Barrister is a really cool brush!  Congrats in advance!
