I’d be inclined to say that’s pretty typical. The brush artisans would know more for certain

It's really unpredictable.  When we look at our custom orders over the past 12 months, Bulbs have been requested more than Fans by about about 7-5. What's interesting is that things tend to run in spurts.  Sometimes Bulbs are "hot." Then for a while Fans will gain traction.

We see a similar, but longer, cyclic effect between 2- and 3-band knots.  From 2012, when we started making brushes, through about October/November 2015, 3-band knots were more popular than 2-bands.  Then, around November of 2015, 2-bands became popular while 3-bands gathered dust.

Interestingly, about six months ago, we began getting requests 3-band knots.  2-band knots are still more popular and, again from a custom order perspective, Fans and Bulbs are running about neck and neck.  That's why, back in the planning stages, the moderators and I decided to offer 25 of each:  Bulbs and Fans in 2-band knots for this limited edition.

Personally, I tend to prefer the slightly "springier" feel of a nice bulb.  But that's just me.  Your opinions are the ones that count; so Nancy and I will just continue to do our best to satisfy your requests.

Good morning Everyone,

Nancy and I want to thank all who purchased DFS Limited Edition brushes over the weekend. We were delighted with the responses we received.

Yesterday afternoon was largely devoted to packing, printing and getting things organized so we could ship this morning, which we just did. So your brushes are on the way. Everyone should have received tracking information; but if you didn't get your tracking number, please send us a PM and we'll re-send it.

Now despite all the activity, we still have a few Fans along with a number of Bulbs looking for new homes, if you have an interest.

Nancy and I are delighted to hear it! Quite candidly, the more I've worked with this handle, the more I like it. At the risk of bragging, it's one of those brushes, kinda like the Eagle, where everything just works.

We still have a bunch left for anyone interested.

Used mine this morning and it was outstanding. Brad Sears current lot of select badger is simply outstanding. Pillowy soft tips that gel like crazy. It really is a luxurious knot and a true blonde badger. I have added it to my collection and intend to buy more. One of my favorite knots at the moment. Happy Shaving!!!

Took all this time of looking at the brush so much, and reading about it more carefully to realize that it was indeed the newer Select Badger that I wanted in the brush. Thankfully I realized in time before the fans were gone to pick one up!
