Your thoughts on OneBlade

For any who cares about the price of the feathers, I know a British company sells in bulk and so does Bullgoose. Catch them on sale and it comes out to 48 cents each. Since you are buying in bulk, wait until Black Friday and the sale is bound to be better. I don't do SOTD pictures because its too much work in the early dawn hours so I took this just to show the relative size of 240 at once. I might shove that in that leather case to store. Brush is unused yet. I've been lazy.

I know the oneblade costs a lot,but almost everybody agrees the shaves are superlative. I wonder how many people have a Simpson Manchurian brush
or other real expensive brush. I don't hear anybody complaining about the cost of high-end brushes yet the oneblade gets hammered for the cost. I feel the shave of the oneblade puts it above many and most razors and I can get just as good lather with my $20 Semouge 620 as I can with my $200 shavemac, I just have to work harder and longer on it.

This makes sense. The initial investment of a OneBlade isn't particularly egregious relative to other high end shaving gear. I've seen brushes sell for $300-500, and since the OneBlade is built of more durable materials, it is likely to provide a more lasting investment.

To me the only serious cost-related criticism of the OneBlade relates to the high operating cost (relative to comparable high end razors) of using the Feather SE blades. Even so, the purchase can be justified on other grounds.

OneBlade is high on my list, but I'm waiting to hear impressions of the upcoming ATT and Wolfman SE razors before I spring for one myself. Hell, I might just grab one anyway since the others aren't that comparable (since they don't have the pivoting heads).

Also, they aren't comparable because they use completely different blades. The shape of the GEM blades provides a different type of cut IMO than you get from the longer shavette style blade.

Also, they aren't comparable because they use completely different blades. The shape of the GEM blades provides a different type of cut IMO than you get from the longer shavette style blade.

Great point SharpSpine! In your view, which type of blade/system provides a greater reduction in blade flex/chatter? This is important to me since it seems to be the primary advantage of the SE format versus DE.

damn there are brushes that cost $350? I got 3 pretty cheap but very good performance brushes and yesterday I went ordered some from razorock, got the Italian colors synthetic and the ivory synthetic 22mm with soap as combo and added the fatip gentile black and got the fatip grande gold from forum member that used it maybe twice.... All of this for $77.... I mean $350 for a razor of great materials, machined,looks good,shaves good yea I can understand $350 for it, but not sure how brush end up reaching such high price? How much better is that brush in performance vs lets say Razorock synthetic bruch ivory handle that cost $9? Besides looks, does it really performs 35 times better????

That's not how life works. Performance increases are not linear. Google "The law of diminishing returns"

Do you think that driving a Rolls Royce to a destination will be 35 times better than a Yugo? Of course not. But which one would you rather drive in?
