Your thoughts on OneBlade

My point was simply that the overall value proposition (including the blades, but also the price and the Chinese manufacture) hasn't yet convinced me. I'm keeping an open mind though and have been doing my research on this and other SE razors.

But I'd also add that people pass judgement all the time on products before purchasing - for many that's a normal part of making purchasing decisions. Reviews aid in this tremendously, as does marketing, word of mouth, etc.

beisler   Good post.  That's my way, only I can make a decision if I like a product or not.  The only way to do that is by trying.  I don't understand how people can honestly pass judgement on a product without trying it first, but that's me :-)

I took the plunge on the OneBlade right at the beginning, so I took a bigger chance with little or not objective reviews.  Most of the stuff written back then was jokes about it.

I have no regrets.

hrfdez I totally agree that value is both subjective and relative, though I'm not sure that the Chinese brush hairs analogy is compelling - badger bristles are not manufactured. In any case, I'm open to being convinced on this razor, but it would need to perform exceptionally well (at least better than other SE options) for me to find it worth the premium.

I can see that you don't find the OneBlade to be better than the Wolfman, but is it your best SE razor? Have you tried the Mongoose?

It is the best SE I own. I currently own the Classic Cobra, King Cobra, Mongoose, and a Micromatic. I don't own any razor that's better than a Wolfman in the DE realm.

Look, there's no right or wrong in this equation. All you can do is try it, and if you don't like it, that's that. It doesn't make it wrong for everybody else that owns one and love it.

And I agree, the whole blade subscription deal is ridiculous.  I haven't bought a set of blades from the subscription since I bought it.  I bought a huge bulk amount from a retailer and I just continue passing on the subscription three months at a time.  Sweet!

I agree people pass judgement, but I also don't understand how they can come up with an honest and objective assessment.  To me that's just common sense.

I'm glad you are keeping an open mind. I have shaved with a lot of SE's and injectors over the years, and again,for me,the oneblade surpasses them all. I even have the original easy rider injector and tennis raquet injector I bought in the 1970's and while I love them,the oneblade beats them. Anyhow, I am not usually a fanboy of anything or anyone but this razor does impress me. I hope you at least get a chance to try it,just like I want to try a wolfman,but its not the money stopping me,its the availability.

The availability is the biggest barrier to the Wolfman beisler. Luckily enough, SE razors like the OneBlade and Mongoose are a lot easier to buy. Fortunately the OneBlade has a 30 day guarantee. While this alone isn't enough to make me run out and get one, it will be easier to compete the transaction if that's the one that I decide on in the end. I still have more research to do.

The Cobras are very sweet razors, they just require a good touch and patience. The Micromatic is just a superb vintage SE.

I only use my Cobras when I'm totally kicking back at the house

The Cobra aesthetics have always been very attractive to me. The shape actually reminds me of a cobra lol. I'd have tried one already but I only want to end up with one razor of each type (DE, SE, Slant), and I don't like selling stuff off.
