First shave with the Yates Precision razor with the H Plate ( thanks
Dave in KY for letting me try it out ) and it was a shave of new items. My good shaving buddy
Shavemd Mark told me to try what he called black ninja blades which are Gillette Black 7 O’Clocks and Eufos Rosa Oud shave soap.
The Yates performed as most have reported. Smooth and efficient. I’ll need more shaves to get a true read on it and as requested I’m going to do a side by side Shave Off with the Paradigm Diamondback for a comparison.
The Rosa Oud is one of the nicest smelling Rose dominant scents I’ve used in the past few years but unfortunately I really don’t get any real Oud
aka ( Agarwood oil ) notes from it but a well balanced shave soap offering nice cushion. Good slickness and a above average post shave. Only negative other than the lack of an Oud note I was expecting is there doesn’t seem to be 4oz of soap in the jar but more like 3 oz. but overall I very much enjoyed it! I need more time to with the Black Ninja’s ( like that name ) and from what Mark said the blade getting sharper after the first shave. As I’m so used to my Feathers I’ll have to do a half shave to compare on my next shave. Only the second time using the Alpha shaving brush with the synthetic knot but I gotta say I really like the way the handle feels like in hand and the brush performed great so it’s a keeper.
I not only have the Yates H plate to try out for a little while but the Taiga Adjustable arrived in the pass around so I decided to only do one pass with the Yates and using a moderately aggressive skin stretch I managed to get a very solid DFS out of the razor and blade combo. Followed up with my own concoction of a Oud based Skin Food Splash I’ve been playing with an Montale Red Aoud EDP cologne so overall a good shave experience.
