Wolfman WR2 Head Discussion

I just received my email and invoice from Wolfman Razors. I was on the list since late afternoon 9/7/19. I ordered the WM2 SB in basic matte finish. I care more about the performance than the look of the polish. I have been told it will ship in 2 weeks.

I applaud James for moving to a waiting list. Trying to jump on the infrequent releases was stressful. With some patience and getting on the list, you will eventually obtain one.

Where can I get some of this patience you're talking about  ? 

1. A BBS Level 1 can range from an entry level 1 that lasts from 4 to 6 hr 
2. A very solid BBS level 1 can last from 5 to 8 hrs
3. A entry level 2 BBS can last from 8 to 10 hrs 
4. A very solid level 2 BBS can last from 11 to 14 hrs
5. A entry level 3 BBS can last from 15 hrs to 18 hrs 
6. A very solid level 3 BBS can last from 20 hrs up to over 24 hrs

Ok so some may be saying a BBS is a BBS but in my experience it depends on how far under the skin's surface you can get your stubble which determines what level BBS I'm getting which in turn equates to how long it lasts.

Frank, you know in the past you and I had a go round about this and until seeing this it makes sense to me now!! For well over a year now I use a variation of your skin stretch technique and with my Ti95DC shaving every other day I am solidly in the #5-6 category with most days on shaves #1-3 of a new blade being a 6 and shaves #4-6 being a 5. Thanks for finally putting this in a manner I can easily understand now...

Hello my friend and I think you hit the nail on the head when you used the words skin stretch. By doing so you can get those hairs to go deeper beneath the skins surface and do so in less strokes! The razor and blade combo will usually determine how many strokes it takes to achieve your desired results.  Remember when I did a side by side using and Ikon Tech vs a Gillette Fat handled Tech? Both loaded with a Feather blade. It took the Gillette Tech if memory serves me correctly twice as many strokes or more to achieve the same closeness of shave the Ikon Tech did.so yeah since this is a WR2 thread a WR2 .95 will take more strokes than a WR2 1.55 to get to let’s say a Level 2 BBS and because of the amount of strokes it takes irritation can come into play. That’s why if I’m going for a long lasting BBS shave I’m not pulling out a Feather AS -D2 to get me there. To many strokes!

The heavens opened and I finally received my invoice

My order was placed on 7th September.

Razor Head: WR2-DC Razor Head (Blade Gaps SB 1.05mm SB 1.25mm)
Handle: WRH1 (90mm (Regular) Hollow
Stand: WRA1

All in basic polish.

I can't wait and it'll be a nice companion to my BBS-1!

Could any of you guys with Experiences with many of the WR2 GAPs and also with other razors, make a reference list for guidance? It would really serve as starting analysis point for a lot of the people here. Something like:

WR2 0.95 - Timeless 68, Wolfman WR1 58,
WR2 1.05 - ATT R1, etc you get the gist of it
WR2 1.15 - xxxxx, xxxx
WR 1.25 -xx,xxxxxx

So I am relatively new to this thread, and I apologize if this question has been asked and answered. I finally got on the waiting list and am prepared to wait. Not an issue. I ordered a 1.05 OC. To put this in perspective, I can shave comfortably with straights, a 2011 R41 and on the opposite end of the spectrum, a Feather AS-D2. Does it matter to me if after 18 hours, I can barely feel stubble? No, I am a daily shaver anyway. I would love to get some thoughts from you, who already have Wolfman, whether the gap you chose satisfies your needs, or wished you had ordered a wider gap. Also, OC vs. SB? I also have razors with both. Lastly, the DC is fairly interesting. Do any of you own this version and do you have a game plan for switching back and forth?

I have owned a few DC WR2s. I get the higher gap in OC and use it for the first pass. I use the SB, milder gap for the second pass (I only do two). Every once in a while, I'll use a single gap, just for the heck of it. It's twice as much rinsing and you might want to replace blades sooner if you notice one side wears faster the other. 

Back when I thought I'd only own one WR2, a DC seemed like a great idea. After falling into the rabbit hole, I found I prefer single gap SBs. I still have one DC though, a Ti 1.25OC/1.15SB. It's actually a pretty great combo, but I couldn't use the OC side daily. If I shaved every 2-3 days, I could get by with just this razor and not feel like I'm missing anything.

I usually shave 6 out of 7 days and my Ti 1.05 SB works great for me. I'm not too crazy about the OC WR2.

Is the OC too aggressive for your tastes?

Different strokes for different folks. If you like a 2011 R-41 a 1.05 is going to be too mild. I'd go minimum 1.25. Really I'd say go for the gusto and do 1.55. I can say that because LOOT kindly sent me his Ti 1.55 SB for a tryout. It's the 'cat's whiskers' !

I've got DCs in both WR1, and WR2. My preference is opposite that of pork's. I prefer the lower gap on the OC, and the higher on the SB. I also do 2 passes, and I do the lower gap OC on the first, the WTG pass. Now that the lion's share of the whiskers has been taken down I clean up the remaining stubble with the milder SB doing the ATG pass.

My WR2 DC is 1.15 OC and 1.25 SB. There is a school of thought, which I agree with, that an OC will be equivalent to the next higher gap than the SB of the same gap. Or close to it. I also have a WR2 1.25 OC and it is a great shaver. 

My other two DCs are WR1 .74, and .94 ... both great shavers, and I use them as described above. OC first pass, SB clean up. 

My Google order went in on Sept 10, so I probably won't be seeing the coveted 3rd email until summer time, but I'm going 1.55 DC.
