Wilkinson Sword Blades - Ouch

I got a pack of Wilkinson Sword blades in a sampler pack a while back and I thought it would be cool as those were the blades my dad used when I was growing up.  Holy macaroni!  For me, they hart like hell - we're talking burn baby burn on different razors with different soaps/creams.  Has anybody else tried these nasty blades?

Mark, the Wikinson Swords your Dad used might have been quite different from what you have. I believe the originals came from England. While the name is still around, the current blades are made elsewhere and aren't anywhere near as good as those originals.

Vintage Wilkinson Sword blades are incredible, I don't know about the new ones.

I concur with Bruce but I will say the new ones are far from the worst blade I've tried that are out there. For the price they are way too high but they aren't terrible.

So they're likely the same in name only. These ones say they're made in Germany which we've seen from the VW fiasco, isn't quite what they used to be so I suppose some poor quality blades under a venerable old name isn't beneath them.

Marko, it was the German blades that came under so much criticism so I'm not surprised at your unhappiness with them. Thank goodness DE blade choices are incredibly large so it's easy to walk away from the bad ones. For me, one of the all time worst are Zorrik blades.

We should start a thread for people to post their all time worst blade and see how many people like those blades with the intent of narrowing the field to a blade or blades that unanimously nobody likes.

LOL! I don't think that will ever happen. Another member and I agreed that Zorriks were instruments of torture. However, on another site, there was someone who thought they were just fine. I guess it's those differences that give us all of those choices.
