In the wild I have found coti's and ark's, but now I have found my first Escher. A boxed and labeled stone with slurry stone measuring 6 x 1 1/4. It has a green tint to it and it's slurry. Both labels are in German, so I assume its old school. I was told it came from the sellers grandfather who used them on his SR. It will get a lapping and a test drive soon. A nice addition to my rock pile.

Found this stone at the flea market. Was sold to me as a paperweight. I thought is was something special, but I did not understand why it was dark color on one side and lighter on the other. Lapped the top and one side and I discovered it was a banded combination Yellow Green Thuringian.

Pictures as found and after lapped with water to bring out the color.

Nice!  That's quite the "paperweight."  I know it shouldn't surprise me that people don't identify these types of things correctly, but I suppose since they are from an era past, it only occurs to us shave nuts.   Wink

This is in running for wild find of the year. A 6 x 2 inch thuri that looks like, feels like and smells like a Escher Barber Delight. There in no label to identify, netherless a beautiful yellow green stone. Two pictures as found and two lapped.

I wish my local shops had stones. I already bought all the straights they had, but no dang stones...

Nice looking finds!
