Why would anyone buy a shaving soap with this description?

I would say if I hadn’t also said it was ombré leather by Tom ford maybe? 
It was an inside joke for the amigos which is who the soap was created for and their follower base. At the meet up people understood and found it funny. 
I keep everything 100 and I never pretend something I’m not and my brand is real and raw not shadowy and false. So jokes are jokes to me. That’s how I saw it.

I have purchased products from The Razor Company on previous occasions and will still consider Jason in the future.

I kind of suspected that he had not read the description of the Amigos soap, so i gave Jason a pass. I am glad he responded quickly after being notified of the faux pas.

As for Lothur Grooming, I never considered purchasing their products anyway and would definitely not consider purchasing them now. I am sure they did know what they were doing.

I'm a fan of Lothur soaps and when I got an email from TRC I went and looked at that soap. When I read the description I just shrugged my shoulders, clicked on something else and never gave what I read a second thought. So here was something that I completely dismissed and forgot about and then seeing others points of view that were not what I'd expect.

It was shocking for me as usually the product description is a (pretentious?) scent description.

Hearing it was meant as an inside joke for a specific group adds some context and makes more sense. I didn't find it funny, but I wasn't there at the event or in the forum that this spawned from. That joke should probably elude me. Makes sense.

I just got off the phone with Jason and he was not happy about this and was completely unaware of the Joke part of this collab.. As soon as I told him he immediately took it down and I mentioned the YouTube Video as well and he's going to delete that as well. He was not happy and he said for me to express his apologies for not catching the whole Joke thing.  He also added that he's been extremely busy and didn't have any eyes on what was going on. I had a feeling that this is what happened. He and I have spent many hours on the phone not only talking shaving but life and a whole lot of other subjects. I call him a square guy who's a hard worker and a good family man and I didn't think that he would have gone for this if he knew about the joke part. He also said if anyone has any issues with any product ever to get in touch with him and he will take care of things. 

Hopefully this whole joke thing will not affect your opinion of him or his company. 

This doesn’t seem accurate after reading Løthur’s comments in this thread.  It’s a collaboration and TRC doesn’t know about it?

I think the bigger question is why does another artisan (ethos) Dragonsbeard think it’s appropriate to comment on what another brand decides to use a scent description?
It was totally an inside joke and if you know the 3 guys the soap was created for the joke is very apt and fitting because their show is full of witty banter and humour.

Its a testiment to how good our lives are when you see people describing what is definietely a really bad joke as shocking.

I never would have bought this scent, I dont like leather scented shaving soaps, the joke in the description made me think they added a funky oud note, even more yuck. But Lothur makes a great soap and has some great scents like Tears, and supports a great cause. More than willing to give them a pass.

Also i don't know what kind of inside knowledge is involved with that joke, but I don't see how it could ever redeem it from being possibly the worst joke Ive ever heard.

I'm just upset with the term 'pretentious'. I can name a half dozen friends in the Soap of the thread who like these descriptions, and even write their own after use.

I need to drop this and move on. Sorry. Again, I do apologize for jumping the gun.
