Just a random question... I couldn't get an answer on my own, hence the post.

Is it possible to get an adjustable Artist Club SE? If yes, why it has not been out yet? If not, why not?

Would like to hear views from expert members, artisans? Pls chime in.

If you want to copy the Schick Adjustable Tyoe M injector's method of blade gap variability then yes it can be done. Why not is anyone's guess.

Ok. Thanks for the revert. I am still unable to understand, even though you made it look so obvious.

A follow up question.. If it can be done with an injector, Is it possible to get it done with an AC too?

Main difference between an AC and injector is the width of the blade. Other difference is the blade is key loaded in injectors and hand loaded with AC blades. You just need to in theoryto make the Schick Type M injector razor head wider. Loading is another issue though you can hand load an injector razor. It is extra worrk but it can be done. You asking for people who copy and imitate to innovate and create, good luck with that.

No reason it couldn’t be done using the Rockwell type system of multiple base plates.

Thanks for your inputs. I was fancying something on the lines of a muramasa or a Rex.

That would be the most elegant in theory but not practical at least with some of the existing platforms. I recently acquired a Blackbird Ti Vector and the head is designed to be not much bigger than the AC blade it holds. It’s an elegant design and making it in an adjustable version would change that. You never know, though, what a creative designer might come up with.

The other issue, at least with AC blades and this was touched on above, is their relative rigidity compared to DE blades. DE adjustables generally rely on varying degrees of blade flexion to achieve the desired adjustment. That’s not possible with an AC blade or at least not practical. You would need an adjustment mechanism that would tip the entire blade.  That might be achievable with Gem style blades. It might also be possible (even flexing) with the SE blades that resemble a DE blade cut in half. Given the long history of SE shaving I’m surprised it hasn’t been tried. This is of course, the que for a member to post some obscure vintage razor that does that.

I knew I could count on you Dave. I tried to tag you but for some reason that feature isn’t working for me on my phone.

It's doable. But AC blades vary enough that any AC razor is already something of an adjustable through blade choice. So I think an adjustable SE is valuable, but less so than for DE.
