Our Up Next page is updated and can be found here

Highlights:

1. Project EdT/EdP is on and supplies are on the way

2. Deodorant formulations without baking soda, oils or butters. Anti-bacterial actives and deodorizing agents would form the backbone of the formulation

3. Fougère Bouquet Donkey Milk run planned in November

There are a few other scents we are working on and that will find a place in the calendar soon.

Sounds great. How is the scent of your Fougère Bouquet? My only experience with Fougère is the recent B&M Fougère Gothique, and while I can appreciate the scent, I didn't quite like it.

The deodorant sounds interesting. I've used Pit Paste and works well, but need to be careful not to use too much because the baking soda can burn a little. I'm currently using Kiss My Face.

I find Fougère Bouquet quite a bit brighter and more “classic” than Fougère Gothique, which I also appreciate a lot, but which morphs a little more with time — and may also take more time to really “come to life”.

Here is my impression of Fougère Bouquet (from a few months ago):
“Fougère Bouquet is pretty great. At first it faintly reminded me of Brut, but I quickly started realizing the differences, and appreciating Fougère Bouquet’s complexity. The splash is slightly mentholated, so it gives that cooling sensation, which also affects the initial scent. After the menthol fades, the actual scent steps forward, and I can usually smell it about 2–4 hours later, depending on dosage and layering. If I’d have to pick a couple of words to describe the scent, they’d be ‘floral cologne’. I enjoy Fougère Bouquet more and more every time I use it.”

Scent on the Fougère Bouquet is not too green and not too perfumey either. It is a slightly sweet and spicy fougère. Woody notes mitigate the sweetness and the scent evolves with damp green notes with musk and oakmoss bringing up the rear. Floral notes are not ignored either.

Re: deodorant, pH of baking soda hovers around 9 with the skin at 5.5 with the sweat and sebum. So baking soda would be an irritant unless it is used in tiny concentrations in the product formulation. If it is the second or third ingredient I would guess it is too high of a concentration.

On a related note, Stirling Executive Man worked well with my King of Oud shave this morning.

Greg, I just shaved with King of Oud and applied the aftershave afterwards and dong it if there isn't a bit of a menthol coolness, just a bit, no eye watering nose running I've been tear gassed effect but its there.  I don't recall it being there but today I shave with the Rockwell 6s on pate 6 with a feather blade - very close BBS shave.  I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it but I thought I should tell you asap.  Sorry if I misled you.

Marko

Thanks, Marko. I decided to forgo their aftershave splashes at this time.

Well, I gave in and ordered King of Oud splash. Supposedly the menthol isnt strong. We shall see. Cool

I have the King of Oud splash, and I didn't even know it had menthol until I read this thread. If it's there, it's very mild. I suspect you'll enjoy it. My only complaint, which applies to most of my splashes, is that it's too mild in scent.
