Which soap do you choose when short on time?

I prefer to take the time to enjoy my shaving ritual but sometimes it's just too late or I'm too tired. My lathering technique is pretty much perfected with all the soaps in my den however, there are some that simply take a little bit longer to dial in than others. Thus, when short on time I have my go to soaps. Haslinger and Crowne & Crane are the fastest loading and lathering soaps in my den. Fortunately those two brands are among my favorites to use, so it's not a bad thing.

I never gave much thought to this until recently when I realized how often I kept using those two soaps. Sometimes it's nice to grab a soap that darn near lathers itself. lol. Anyway, I was curious to hear what soaps or creams others resort to when short on time. Also, I should mention that I never rush the actual shave, just the lathering and clean up parts on occasion.

I just use whichever soap I was planning on for that morning. All of my soaps are excellent and they produce a great lather, quite easily, in my opinion. I have never had an issue with any of them, even when I am in a hurry, which is very rare as I get up fairly early before work.

To be honest, I haven’t thought about this particular matter before. However, looking back at some of my recent shaves, I realize that those with Ballenclaugh, CRSW Oliva and WhollyKaw (donkey milk and vegan) were such that after loading I may have been a little unsure if I loaded enough, yet there ended up being plenty of top-quality lather.

I tend to avoid soaps that “explode” into a lather in an instant, because those lathers are often not dense enough for my taste, even though they may be quite slick.

I just use whichever soap I was planning on for that morning. All of my soaps are excellent and they produce a great lather, quite easily, in my opinion. I have never had an issue with any of them, even when I am in a hurry, which is very rare as I get up fairly early before work.

But B&M Glissant base is fast and easy to get a great lather from.

If I am running late and need to "shave" some time off my process, I'll reach for a cream instead of a soap. At the very least, it saves the load time.

I’m not thinking in terms of being short on time because, to be honest, if I was then it would probably be a Gillette Fusion with Aveno canned gel.  However, when it comes to a quick, easy, and great on my face lather it’s Desmond’s Barrow (Scritchnscrub) followed by Barrister & Mann’s (Barrister_N_Mann) Glissant formula.

I would say that haslinger or tabac are my two easiest soaps to load. as you mentioned in your OP, haslinger practically lathers itself.

I know what you mean but that is far from my experience with Haslinger and C&C. I can't stand to use an airy lather either.

I love B&M's Glissant formula, but that is one that I tend to spend a little more time dialing in than others, although I'd hardly call it difficult. It's fantastic and one of my all time favorites, but not what I grab when short on time.

I want to be clear that I try my best to avoid having to rush in a shave. However, there are times when I have no time it seems, but still want to shave. I shave at night because getting up early is sometimes difficult. Often I have to catch a helicopter at 0500, or be at the office 30 minutes away at 0600, only to drive 3 plus hours to work for several hours and then turn around and drive 3 plus hours back. I'd say that is my routine 60% of the time or more. With that said, on the weekends I always set aside time to enjoy a perfect shave. Oh and last night I took my time, but still went with C&C. lol. Tonight will be Grooming Dept most likely.
