honestly, the vintage SE razors are so cheap that you should try as many of them as you can...they're also relatively easy to find. aside from straight razors, SE razors are probably what I find the most in antique shops when I'm hunting.

There are SEs that significant numbers of people have issues with, aggressiveness or angle or whatever, making them probably not the best to start with. The 1914 and MMOC are in this category (I like them fine). Conversely almost everyone seems to get along with the 1912 and Damaskeene.
