Where has Chris been?

The reason this is a topic is because he came off as a guy with a strong opinion, and would not let anyone ever persuade his thoughts for any reason. He

would let it be known that he was going to say whatever was on his mind and not care if some got offended. THEN, he feels heat and turns and runs away

by means of deleting all his accounts with no explanation. Than when some of his videos go back up, all comments are disabled. It seems to me he took

his ball and went home.

I don't mind him calling people idiots, and whatever else he says, but if your message is SO WHAT, than allow people to respond by allowing them to

comment. Its bush league to rant and to knowingly offend people with out letting them respond.

While not to defend the content of Chris`s videos (nor should my comments be considerd a condemnation of said content), I do believe he has the right to post what he wishes just as John Q Public has the right to ignore him.

Additionally, I don't think Chris's restricting comments is unwarranted considering his stand about not caring what others think: he is under no obligation to provide a forum for somebody to comment on his work.

It's akin to a public arts exhibit. Some artist welcome comments and leave space to solcit thoughts, while others chose not to. Would you think less of an artist who chose nor to accept comments? What if the art casually offends you? What if the art was intended to be controversial? As a consumer there are many avenues of response, but the artist is not be required to prove us with space which to do so if he/she chooses not too.

Narcissism.

The vagina comment and apparently drunk and angry on screen got a laugh out of me.
Gents, Chris Bailey orders shaving soaps, brushes and razors like we all do and films himself with them.

He is a classic narcissist.

I used to be a subscriber to his channel and watched all his videos but not anymore. The change in his attitude towards his viewers was what put my off.

Chris is a nice guy.  if I find one of his videos boring, I'll just close it...no big deal!  I don't get why people are upset that he's talking about more than shaving stuff on his own youtube channel........!

To me it would be like going to see star wars in the theatre and then having the sound of Music suddenly start playing. If he wants to point guns at the camera and rant and rave and make sexist vulgar comments that's fine, but the title of the video should indicate that the content therein, has absolutely nothing to do with shaving. When I go to a shaving channel whether it be his or Nickshaves or whomever, I expect to see shaving content..... If he wants to add other content to his videos fine, but create that on another channel or clearly indicate the content of a video will have nothing to do with shaving.

I also find the comments section being removed on his videos as somewhat Juvenile on his part as well. When you make public content and willingly distribute it, you can expect people will critique it. The expectation that everyone will like your content or you, is unrealistic and naïve. If he can't stand criticism for what he produces he ought not be producing content at all.

My final thoughts. His videos were most helpful early on when I began wet shaving, I really enjoyed them and held him in high regard. He seemed like a good dude. His actions over the last 8 months or so and the comments he has made have cast him in a light that completely tears down my prior assessment of him. He is free to produce what he wants and say what he wants. I am also free to comment on his productions and choose, starting today, to not watch that content ever again.

Exactly my point. (I've unsubscribe too). He's free to say what ever he wants short of breaking the law and we are free to ignore him if it offends us.

Just as we don't have to listen to him, he dosent have to listen to me.

Westborough Baptist Church annoys me, but they don't have to provide an outlet for my frustration against them (eg public message board, comment box,ect).

However if it bothers me enough, I'm also free to make a stand and to comment regarding my feelings in my own way.... Like buying a house is coloring it rainbow.... Or discussing this in a gentlemanly way here on a different forum.

Regarding everyone's discussion on the issue of comments. There are actually plenty of valid reasons to disallow comments on an article, video, post, or whatever. One of the best reasons I've seen was documented by Brett McKay at Art of Manliness. I'm pretty sure it was in one of his articles on the loss of traditional communities and accountability, but I can't find it now.

that's not a true apples to apples comparison though - you're paying money to go see a star wars movie, not the sound of music. you know what to expect before going into the theater...a star wars movie.

Chris's youtube channel is his own personal space. sure, he talks about shaving stuff almost all of the time in his videos, but the videos where he has veered off topic have been in his sofa session videos, exactly what I'd expect in a sofa session youtube video.

at the end of the day, to each their own!

I have been reading all the post and arguments for and against.  Bottom line is we still have free speech in this country.  We also have the freedom to not listen to people we do not agree with.  I am not saying which side of the fence I am on when it comes to Chris all I am saying is that if you don't like what he has to say then don't listen.  Now lets get back to talking about shaving.  That's what I am here for.
