Remember, anything you read about an expensive razor is just as much the owner justifying their own purchase.

Wow.

Everyone has a slightly different experience with a razor. Just because I didn't get the same joy someone else did, I wouldn't immediately think they lied to make their purchase meaningful or justified.

Cribbit,
I’ll be anxious to read your remarks on the Henson Ti you ordered and waiting to arrive.

That may be true in some circumstances and other places, but I would not characterize DFS as a forum where that is the case. There is an ethos of community and sharing here, not one-ups-manship or bling flashing.

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone. That's just a bit of a mantra from other collection hobbies I'm in, where N + 1 rules the day.

I don't think anyone is lying. Bling flashing is a totally different phenomenon, which razors nicely sidesteps by the scale of prices and relative evenness of products.

It just means - it's hard to factor out $$$ spent in opinions on something. The medium pricepoint item will do very very nearly as well.

The brain plays tricks on us. Look at any study on blind taste tests of wine vs price.

No offense taken, and welcome to dfs. With some exceptions I generally purchase used and recover most of the the cost when/if it doesn't suit my taste.

That definitely does make some sense. Also, even the elation of getting a great deal could weigh in on your thoughts (even if it's a $50 razor you found for $15), you are already going in thinking, "it's perfect... It was meant to be".

My opinion: Unless you are spitting out a thorough review after shave 1 or 2, you're going to come back down to reality quickly. Lol. If you give it a week, your impression should be spot on (for you, at least... This is very much a YMMV type hobby).

I'll echo ewk and say Welcome to the Board. DFS is a great place.
