Savon de rasage ânesse (La Savonnerie Bourbonnaise) cedar & lemongrass
Each time I use this soap, I swear it will be my last. Of all the dozens and dozens of soaps on my shelf, Le savon de rasage ânesse has earned the dubious honor of making the worst lather. Thin, foul tasting, and remarkably unstable, these suds are the sort I normally would flush after one try. But I keep coming back to this soap for two reasons. First, it leaves my face feeling terrific. I credit the donkey milk (lait d’ânesse d’Auvergne, to be precise) for the clean, smooth finish. And second, I like the smell. There are only two notes, cedar and lemongrass, but they work together to create a scent that’s fresh and relaxing. Think of a rainy afternoon spent sipping lemon tea in a woodwright’s shop.

Just received a tube of Arko comfort. Like the Moist I currently have and enjoy, this is well lathered and gives zero irritation. The smell is clean and citrusy. The after is very slick and cushioned. Used a Astra blade along with a ever-ready c40 brush. Worked great. It will stay in the lineup along with the Arko aqua aftershave to compliment it. Nice Sunday shave!
