Some days are diamonds! At the cabin this Christmas I gifted my oldest grandson a shaving set.Just a razor and brush because he already has a drawer full of soaps, creams, and aftershaves as he has always had interest in grandpas stash. The first soap he swiped was a tub of Stirling Ben Franklin because to him it smelled like rootbeer. Often when he visits he wants to sniff stuff and when he asks if he could have most often the answer was yes. He likes to help his uncle at the NW Wetshavers meet-up each fall and has dragged home stuff from the PIF table. So to say he was ready when shaving time came is an understatement! Right before Christmas my daughter, his mom, mentioned he was getting pretty fuzzy and she had dad decided to give me the honor of showing him how to shave. Due to illness yesterday was the first time we could get together. First off we covered the whole process of “why”. Then we made a couple of practice lathers. Then we washed our faces, filled the basin with water, and whipped up lather. He was tentative and so….slow….. but in the end his cheeks were smooth and there was no blood. Oh, what soap did he choose? Pre de Provence 63, a hard puck he’d stolen well over a year ago. What a great day!
