Same soap as yesterday, but today I loaded to my heart’s content. Forty to fifty swirls yielded a lot more lather than yesterday’s miserly load, and it was denser and glossier too. But it wasn’t as slick, and it seemed to dry me out much more than yesterday’s shave. In fact, for about an hour, my skin was as tight as a drumhead. But in a sultry climate that passes pretty quickly. What’s left now is a remarkably close shave and the lingering sweetness of MdC’s vetiver fragrance, which strikes me as a close cousin to Tom Ford’s Grey Vetiver edp. I can see why people get hooked on this soap.

That's interesting.  I also noticed a difference in tightness from the heavy load vs light load with lighter leaving a better, albeit dry, post shave.

Last of the Martin de Candre vetiver.  I loaded like I usually do with a synthetic.  (Note to self: don't use a synthetic with MdC.)  there was a blizzard in my bathroom.  I haven't flung that much cream around since milking cows as a teen.  The bathroom sparkles now that I cleaned it up but Mama’s gonna wonder what happened to her towel.  (No gents, it's a joke.  I got her a new one).  So after yesterday's Spartan load and this days more luxurious load, I'm concluding a guy CAN shave with less soap but I this great land of excess, for heavens sake why?  I'm a conspicuous consumer of soap.  The shave? Excellent.  MdC seems to balance the very good slickness with just the right amount of cushion so the blade fairly slips along my hide whittling the nubbins it encounters.  Smoking close shave.  Excellent vetiver scent.  And I've decided not worth the $75 bucks a tub they ask.  Hey, come now.  I'm not making any judgements of anyone who has a jar or three, and the vetiver scent makes me want to rethink my conclusion and repent of covetousness. But I already have excellent vetiver soaps that offer smoking close shaves which are no longer costing me additional money.  Besides, I could used that money to pay for my pole dancing classes.  (Mama’s gonna be so surprised!). BTW the finish this morning was really not bad.

Lipripper660, Do you by any chance have Mike's Rose & Cedarwood?  If so, the two scents are similar but I pick up more of the wood scent on Mikes whereas I pick more of the Rose on Shannon's.  Shannon's certainly isn't a straight-up rose, the confer helps tone down the overall rose scent.  But the rose definitely comes through stronger...at least to my nose.  Knowing how you and I pick up the scent profile of BTRC Black Velvet, it wouldn't surprise me if you pick up more Conifer than Rose on the Shannon's  Big Grin
