And old Pal is stepping out lively.  Posting up above Hereford Springs I can see clear over into Clyde Valley to the south, the Jim Sage mountains to the east, and imposing Cache Peak to my north.  Sucking in a lungful  of Idaho air and counting my blessings To have a day of work ahead of me and old Pal.  Yes, I like this soap.

Wild Oranges v. (Meißner Tremonia) orange peels

After taking a sniff of this puck of Wild Oranges, I regret not having ordered the paste, which offers a wet, sour smell that could easily be taken for blood orange juice. The hard soap, however, buries that scent under a layer of red clay. There’s some good stuff in there, but it’s been muted. Another sniff and now I’m getting bruised orange peel, bitter and citrusy, but at the same time a little off. Could it be the peppery smell of litsea cubeba that’s clobbering the orange? I think I’ll anoint this tub with a few drops of orange and bergamot oils to add some brightness to future shaves.

I just noticed that, like Saponificio Varesino, Meißner Tremonia also recommends that their soaps be lathered with hot water. I’ll have to try that tomorrow.

Been bouncing back and forth between Asinus donkey base and the new unscented Milksteak. I’ve come to really appreciate the addition of milks to shaving soap and the addition of some to the new Declaration soap is evident.
