Picked it up in the spring for the first time.  I love pine in nature but maybe not my favourite note in a soap.  This one is quite pleasant though with some type of moss added.  I think it will be a repeat if I ever finish the tub. Smile  The mutton base is a winner as well.

Sorry quoted that wrong that was in response to the Stirling Scots Pine.

Brutalt Bra smells very much like LPL’s Traditionnel. They’re both an herb garden for your face. And like LPL, Brutalt Bra is a very simple soap. Apart from the water and fragrance I count two ingredients: potassium stearate and potassium cocoate. Scandinavian simplicity. These two ingredients makes a good lather, a little on the light side, but slick. I got a very close shave. I wish it had better cushion, though. When I make three passes, I need to remember to keep my Rockwell on baseplate 2. The finish (aside from a bit of blade burn) is grand.

Gentle Menthol Paste v. (Meißner Tremonia) rosemary, lavender, eucalyptus, menthol

Still smarting from yesterday’s blade burn, this morning I reached for something that's soothing and cooling and still smells good. MT’s Gentle Menthol paste has the same herby scent profile as yesterday’s Brutalt Bra, but it also offers a dab of menthol. I find it refreshing, not chilling, and it helped put out the still smoldering embers of yesterday's irritation. I’m a soap snob, I admit it, and I’m finding the the way a soap is presented is becoming more and more important to me. For instance, I really like MT’s heavy glass jars, tight lids, and restrained typography. The stuff inside is pretty good too.

Edit: I am so sorry... I just saw the length of this post. The short version is "I used long rifle hunting Lodge and it is good."
________

I shave every other day. My shaves are almost exclusively in the evening, before bed. Today, on a somewhat laxidasical morning, I was taking stock of my shave gear. I had just recently gotten a tub of Long Rifle Soap, Hunting Lodge.

It's supposed to be leather, Bay Rum, and tobacco. I'm not certain what scents I pick up from this soap. I can definitely catch a hint of bay in the background, but the leather and tobacco blend into something odd and different. All in all, The scent is nice albeit very very (very very very) light.

I have used the soap once before. As I said the scent is very light, which is a little unappealing. However, the performance is way up there... Very slick and hydrating.

Now, when the soap arrived it was a soft soap "puck" floating in a tin container. Looking at it, I decided my only option was to press it in. I don't like to do this, as I don't want a meddle with the pristine condition of a soap.

With it all secured into the dish, I thought " Since I've already mangled it, I wonder if this would be a good soap to keep strictly for face lathering?

On a whim I pulled out my Omega S brush, which I haven't used in a while. After about 20 seconds of loading, I whipped up a nice dry lather on the brush and slowly added water and applied it to my face. Using my Rockwell 6s on r4 I proceeded to shave (normally I'm an r2 user, but I wanted to test the bounds of this soaps slickness).

Wow, is all I can say. What a joy. I was again greeted with a great shave from this little, nearly scentless, puck.

I don't know that I'll keep it for only face lathering, but it was a fun shave on a nice Saturday morning. Different and joyful.
