Stirling Soap Company Kong
Several years ago, I read about this brush on some forums. It was well-received and had sold out. I checked the website daily for new stock, and was finally able to get one. I still remember the excitement.
Synthetics have of course progressed since, and the loft of this one makes it a little floppy, but it’s still a fine brush for sensitive skin and on days when I don’t need backbone. The size and splay make it feel rather luxurious in use – this feels more like a 28–30 than a 26 mm.

My biggest right now is a 28mm and I lofted it a touch too short. It's easing up some though. With some more time and use, you may find that you’re happy you didn’t set it higher. I have a 30 mm synthetic that initially felt fine at 61 mm, but now I wish I had set it 2–3 millimeters lower. On the other hand, there’s another 30 mm synthetic I initially thought I had set too low (57 mm), and now it’s perfect.
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

The Kong remains one of my favorite synthetics and it is that "rather luxurious" feel that keeps me coming back to it.
