I’ve been dragging out some of my older razors lately. The Edwin Jagger DE89 was the razor that hooked me into traditional wet shaving. I’d tried initially with a really nasty Merkur and after a couple of weeks I’d decided that the DE razor wasn’t for me and went back to the multi blade cartridges. My then 16 year old son asked if he could give it a go and I said sure. Well it worked for him. Granted he had much lighter beard growth than me but it was enough to get me to try again. After thorough research I decided the EJ DE89 was the way to go and never looked back. It’s still a great shaver Gillette Platinum blade.

I started with the Merkur 38C. Had good luck with it personally. I now also own 3 DE89's. A little on the mild side for me now, but I like breaking them out now and then. Nice razors, good shaves, and well priced. Plus a nice selection of different handle styles with them.
